Århus Visby Sweden

Submitted by salmonized on Thu, 2006-12-21 21:10

I think you mixed up your geography in Stockholm syndrome Leo. The town on teh island with the medieval walls etc. was probably on the island Gotland and the town is called Visby. You mentioned Århus which is in Denmark.

Greetings from Stockholm

Submitted by gwood on Mon, 2006-12-18 15:24

You would want to live in this icebox? Well, actually it's probably warmer in the winter than Toronto. Especially since we've been having our warmest December in recorded history.

But the darkness will get ya...sunrise this time of year is around 8:45 AM, with sunset at around 2:45 PM.

We do have lots of broadband, and wi-fi hotspots are appearing around town...Decent new coffee bars, but no Starbucks though.

Top 10 videos - What is Bus Uncle?

excalipoor's picture
Submitted by excalipoor on Sun, 2006-12-17 15:50

Sorry. I was a bit hurt becuase you guys dont know what that bus uncle is all about. The video was popular beucase of the society in Hong Kong. This video clip had cause the entire Hong Kong population (7 million) to see news other than entertainment news. What ever happens in Hong Kong, It affects other regions near Hong Kong like China, Taiwan, and even Southeast Asia. I don't think that many videos like that can affect the entire country, with the way they think about the society, and many things. Here's the wikipedia page about Bus Uncle:

It's something fresh change of topics to talk about becuase Hong Kong people only talks about entrtainment news due to the heavily saturation of entertainment tabloid news. That's also the reason why Hk version of "Millionaire" is canceled. Most HK contestants can't even reach pass the first safe line (5 questions). People just pay too much attention to the tabloid news more than reading books or to learn in general.
Hong Kong people are a bit unique in comaprison with the rest of the Chinese peopel becuase they are at least have a huge headstart in economy. However, with the asian stock market crash and China's free economy, the gap between Hong Kong's and China's financial power is getting smaller.

I like this net @ nite formula. It has gotten me to try talkshoe for my own netcast. I did episode 10 of my netcast on talkshoe (Reaper PC/PDA)it was an interesting experience. It still seems as though they have some technical glitches to work out.
Great show Amber and Leo!!

RoboTechMaster mentions Secret World Chronicle - I pulled up the web page. One of the authors is Mercedes Lackey. A bunch of her books sit on my shelves, I definitely know her work.

It looks interesting.

Amber, don't be ashamed of watching X2; that movie was bitchin'! And I can tell you enjoyed it. ;-)

Anyway, good show and nice hearing so much support is being given to the Kims. I think this story touched hearts around the world and made us realize how heroic a person he was in such tough circumstances. R.I.P. James, you'll be remembered fondly.

Radio Show Comment

You made a comment about resigning from the radio show. Say it ain't so, Leo! I hope KFI comes through with the national syndication to keep you on the show. I have hours of commuting to occupy with podcasts and your radio show is at the top of the list (after TWIT of course).

Part of the discussion when Adam called in was about whether or not to resurrect ITN. I think it would be great! Because I can't see N@N as a replacement for ITN because they differ vastly in content and I love each for different reasons. What if you got Megan Morrone to host ITN, and make it monthly instead of weekly if that would make it easier? I remember you said that you wouldn't let Megan leave after she hosted ITN a few times... just a suggestion, because ITN has always been my second favorite podcast, after TWiT, of course...

Thanks Becky! you're the best.

I miss seeing you and hope you're on more TWIT-casts in the future.

James was a comfortable person for me personally, when I needed help deciding on a gadget or tech device, James' reviews were where I turned and I too think James taught us all how to act when things go bad.

Thanks for posting early!

Hi Leo,

If you check out you can use all of their music at The Podsafe Music Network.

Apologies if you already know about this. (Which you probably do!)

Pre-show recommendation

MichaelLPerry's picture
Submitted by MichaelLPerry on Mon, 2006-12-11 12:53

Since you have so many callers and no call screener, I recommend that you pre-screen calls before the show. Just ask people to type their topic into the chat, then unmute them one-by-one to ask for more detail.

Doing this, you should be able to maintain a higher quality cross-section of calls. And as an added bonus, people will know whether they can expect to be on the show.

Love the work that you and Amber do.
