Campus Facilities

Zion Bible College enjoys a beautifully landscaped, forty-acre campus with tall, stately trees, expansive lawns, and exceptional architecture. Before our miraculous purchase of this campus in 1985, it was home to Barrington College, which was previously known as Providence Bible College. Zion Bible College's facilities, therefore, remain in the hands of people who are dedicated to the preparation of men and women for the proclamation of God's Word. The spacious acreage of our campus provides students with ample space for walking, enabling them to find secluded spots for meditation, prayer, and reflection.

THE GIBSON MEMORIAL BUILDING

This impressive, historic Barrington mansion is the campus centerpiece. Originally known as the Peck Mansion, it is listed among Rhode Island's historic buildings and is an historic landmark in the state. It houses the President's Office, a variety of additional offices, and residential quarters for staff. Also included in its spacious design is the presidential dining area, an ornate reception area, the prayer chapel, which is the heart of the East Coast Prayer Tower, and the College's library. The library itself is a two-level, 37,000-volume facility of elegant style. The courtyard of this mansion features a lovely pond and fountain that overlook an open area of landscaped flowers, fields and trees.

THE CRANDALL CHAPEL BUILDING

The Crandall Chapel Building is a contemporary-style, brick complex that contains the school chapel. The gymnasium, where basketball, volleyball, and indoor hockey are played, is located next to the chapel. Both facilities give rise to an encircling walkway. Two classrooms, a few offices, the audio-visual room, and the exercise room, which houses free weights, Universal equipment, and aerobic equipment are within this center as well. The Crandall Chapel Building overlooks and adjoins the College's softball field (an all-purpose athletic field), and the tennis courts.

THE MESSERLIAN DINING COMMON

This building contains Zion’s comfortable, two-section dining area, a cafeteriastyle food service, a salad bar, and a well-equipped kitchen. The president’s dining room and a conference dining room are located next to the Dining Common.

THE STUDENT UNION

The Student Union is a three-level brick structure that is attached to the Dining Common. The Union features a social lounge with a beautiful brick fireplace, three large skylights, and a second-story balcony on each side. Faculty offices are situated along the balcony. The building also contains the Fellowship Center, commonly known as The Felly, which is a snack bar and short-order grill. The Felly is the hub of activity throughout the day, a place for fun and fellowship for students, staff, and faculty. Within the Student Union there are three classrooms, a conference room, the yearbook office, and school mailroom (see Student Services), and in addition the Office of the Dean, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, and the Christian Service Office.

THE LEONARD W. HEROO HALL

The Leonard W. Heroo Hall, located next to the Student Union Building, is a sprawling, eighty-room dormitory that contains apartments for staff and married students, as well as rooms for single students and guests. This is a one-story brick structure that has a clock tower as its centerpiece. The rear section of the building provides a quiet residential area. Ample parking space is on one side of the hall, and a section that summer residents use for gardens is located on the other side.

THE MARY CAMPBELL WILSON HALL

This three-story, brick structure houses a sixty-one room ladies dormitory. Each room has two windows, beds, desks, and closet space. The first floor contains an apartment for the Resident Director. Entrances are found on both sides of the building. One side of the building has ample space for parking, while the other side offers a quiet, lawn that leads to Faith Drive.

THE ALICE S. CHASE HALL

This three-story, brick structure houses a fifty-nine-room dormitory for gentlemen. Each room has two windows, built-in beds, desks, and closet space. The first floor contains an apartment for the Resident Director. The building runs perpendicular to the Mary Campbell Wilson Hall. Entrances are found on both ends of the building. On one side there is a large section offering adequate parking space; the other side exits onto Faith Drive.

THE OFFICE COMPLEX

The newly renovated facility offers a one-story, open-concept design. The building lies adjacent to the Gibson Memorial Building and faces Faith Drive. This multi-office area contains the Office of Admissions and Records, and the administrative offices of Finance, the Alumni Association, and the Ministries Department.

THE CHARLOTTE MARIE KING BUILDING

The Charlotte Marie King building, next to the Crandall Chapel Building, is a multi-purpose building. This one-story structure houses several educational offices, providing space for a variety of needs. A short walkway extends from Faith Drive to the building’s entrance.

THE BLANCHARD BUILDING

Located next to Zion’s welcoming sign, and flanked by stately evergreens, there is a multi-dwelling building (the Blanchard Building) that is used for the residence of staff and faculty. This two-story complex is next to the athletic field and is in close proximity to the Crandall Chapel Building.

ATHLETIC FIELD

The Athletic Field lies to the far right of Zion’s entrance. This all-purpose area provides students with a very large field for playing softball, soccer, and other sports and games. The spacious environment of the field gives students an excellent place for walking, praying, and seeking God as well.
