The first sweater I did in one color.  The second I used two colors and sc with contrasting color in the unworked stitches across chest, back, arms, soles of booties, and back of bonnet.  In the pattern I  have indicated the other changes if two colors are used.

Yoke Front and Back
Row 1:  Ch 34, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across, ch 1, turn.  (33 sc)
Row 2-16:  Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.  

Shoulder
Row 17:  Sc in 10 sc, ch 1, turn.  (leaving the rest unworked)
Row 18:  Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 19&20:  Rep row 18.
Row 21:  Sc across to last 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc, ch 1 turn.
Row 22:  Rep row 18.
Row 23-34:  Rep rows 21 and 22 alternately, fasten off.

Other Shoulder
Row 17:  continuing with unworked stitches, skip 13 sc, sl st in next, sc in same and in each remaining st across, ch 1, turn (10sc)
Row 18-34:  Rep 18-34 of 1st shoulder, stitch rows 21 and 22 alternately to match other shoulder.  Last row do not finish off,  continue with:
Ch 1,  sc in same space, sc around ENTIRE piece evenly with (sc, ch 1, sc in same st ) in every outside corner, sl st to join, turn.  

Body
Working in front loops only, ch 1, sc to 1st corner, sk 36 sc (for arm hole)  in back loops sc across back, sk 36 sc (other arm hole)  sc in back loops across, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 1:  In 1st sc: (sc, ch 3, 3 dc), *skip 3 sc, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc)in next sc, rep from * across, turn.
Rnd 2-11:  (ch 3, 3 dc) in 1st sc, *(sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in ch-3 space,  rep * across, turn.  Last round to not turn, continue up side with {*3 sc in ch 3-sp, sc in sc, rep * across} to neckline, sl st. Finish off.
Starting at neckline on other side, join with sl st, rep { } down side.

Bottom:  *Sc in next 3 dc, sc in sc, sc in space, Rep * across, sl st. Finish Off.  

Sleeves
Rnd 1:  In arm pit, join with sl st, sc in same, in back loops sc around, sl st to join.
Rnd 2:  Ch 1, sc in same, *ch 3, 3 dc, sk 3 sc, sc, rep from * around, sl st in 1st sc.  (9 shells)  Turn
Rnd 3-10:  Sl st in next 3 dc, sl st in next ch-sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in each space around, sl st to first sc.  Rnd 10 do not turn.
Rnd 11: Ch 1, *sc, skip ch-sp, sc in next 3 dc, rep from * around, sl st.
Rnd 12:  Ch 1, *sk sc, sc, rep * around, sl st.  Finish off if using contrasting colors, if using same color do not finish off.  
Rnd 13: With contrasting color, sl st, ch 1, sc around sl st to join.
Rnd 14-16:  Rep rnd 13  Finish off.

Trim
Starting at the bottom, With contrasting color (if using two colors), sl st, ch 1, *(sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same stitch, skip 3, rep *across bottom, in corners, skip 1 sc (instead of 2) 2 times, *(sc, ch 3, 3 dc) skip 3, Rep * up side, skip 3 at bottom of V of neck.
Ch 50, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across, sl st.
Continue around neck with *(sc, ch 3, 3 dc) skip 3.
At bottom of V of neck, ch 50, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across, sl st.  
*(sc, ch 3, 3 dc) skip 3 across to last 2 shells, skip 2 sc instead of 3 (if needed).  Sl st.
If using contrasting colors, sc in the unworked stitches across chest, back, and shoulders.
