December 25, 2006 -- MICHAEL Musto is about to go national via his book, "La Dolce Musto," a compilation of his most outrageous Village Voice columns, hitting stores next week. Among the "Best of Musto" lineup: James Woods described Lynn Hirschberg, who once wrote an unflattering profile of him, as "a degenerate, scum-sucking pig. A [bleep]ing pile of unmitigated pus ripped from the [bleep] of a dead dog." Bijou Phillips once told Musto: "I lost my virginity to [Lemonhead singer] Evan Dando. Now he's terrified of me. He thinks I'm gonna call the police on him because he slept with an underage girl." "Club Kid" Michael Alig told Musto, who first reported that Alig had committed the 1996 murder of drug dealer Angel Melendez, "I know why I blabbed. I must have wanted to stop me. I was spinning out of control. It's like the old saying 'What do you have to do to get attention around here - kill somebody?' " And David LaChapelle noted of his muse, Amanda Lepore: "When I told her that silicone is dangerous, she said, 'I don't care, as long as I look beautiful in the coffin.' "
