Supporting Organizations

Supporting or partner organizations are welcome to become part of the biggest biennial conference on air quality management in Asia. Partner organizations can make use of the opportunity to organize side events in BAQ 2006. Side events allow them to have a free hand in deciding the agenda or program content and in determining their targeted participants.

As part of its efforts to reform the management of external aid, the Commission formally set up the EuropeAid Co-operation Office on 1 January 2001. EuropeAid Co-operation Office's mission is to implement the external aid instruments of the European Commission which are funded by the European Community budget and the European Development Fund.

The Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) is an umbrella organization of transportation science societies with the primary objectives of fostering and supporting excellence in transportation research and practice and to stimulate professional interchange in all aspects and modes of transportation.

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) conducts policy-oriented and practical "strategic research" on global environmental issues to achieve sustainable development.

The Global Atmospheric Pollution Forum was established to encourage wider debate and innovative
solutions to the challenges of air pollution at the regional, hemispheric and global scales.

The German Agency for Technical Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit, GTZ) is a government-owned corporation for international cooperation with worldwide operations.

The Health Effects Institute (HEI) provides high-quality, impartial, and relevant science on the health effects of pollutants from motor vehicles and other sources. HEI is coordinating CAI-Asia's Public Health and Air Pollution in Asia (PAPA) project.

The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) was set up in 1985, to promote environmentally sustainable and equitable transportation policies and projects worldwide.

The Ministry of Environmentof the Government of Japan is a co-organizer of the 2nd Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum.

The Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (Sida) is a government agency under the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Sida's goal is to contribute to making it possible for poor people to improve their living conditions.

The overall goal of Clean Air Program (CAP) IV is to contribute to the improvement of air quality in Jakarta metropolitan area by strengthening local stakeholders in addressing long-term reduction of air pollution caused by motorized traffic.
The Swiss-Vietnamese Clean Air Programme (SVCAP) seeks to support the creation of favourable conditions for the reduction of air pollution by means of the definition and implementation of an integral air quality management system, focusing on Hanoi and surrounding areas.

TVE Asia Pacific is a non-profit media organization working throughout the Asia Pacific region. Its vision is to use information and communication to catalyse discussion and debate on sustainable development and social justice issues.

United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) is a co-organizer of the 2nd Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum.

United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) is the UN's main economic and social development forum in the region.

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) aims to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State. It supports long-term and equitable economic growth and advances U.S. foreign policy objectives by supporting economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; and democracy, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance.

The Western Pacific Regional Office, located in Manila, the Philippines, represents WHO in the Asia Pacific. WHO acts as a catalyst and advocate for action at all levels, from local to global, on health issues of public concern. Working together with a broad spectrum of partners from all sectors of society, WHO in the Western Pacific is involved in a host of closely related public health activities, including research, databanking, evaluation, awareness raising and resource mobilization.

Partner organizations may also take part in BAQ activities such as the Best Practices Exhibit to showcase project results.
