 Environmental law enters the era of global warming
Climate changes offer business opportunities as a new law practice area continues
to emerge and firms work to keep their environmental lawyers
up to speed through seminars and other educational offerings.
Encouraging law students to pursue public interest careers
Help may be on the way for law school graduates who would like to pursue a public
interest law career but feel they can't afford it.  Avoid a penalty by paying
bar dues by Feb. 1
All California attorneys, whether active or inactive, must pay their annual
State Bar fees by the statutory due date of Feb. 1.
The bar is looking for a few good volunteers
An opportunity to serve their profession is one of the main reasons attorneys
volunteer to serve on State Bar committees. Insurance seminars

The Business & Professions Code requires attorneys to notify the State Bar
about a change of address within 30 days. Legal services awards nominations available
Nomination forms for the State Bar's legal service awards will be available
this month. Openings on the Judicial Council; ABA delegation
Applicants are sought for one position on the Judicial Council and five appointments
to the ABA House of Delegates. Bar wants public comment on nonprofit ruling
The State Bar is conducting a study about the regulation of nonprofit legal
service providers. Council on Access & Fairness seeks members
Applications are being taken for appointments to the newly created Access &
Fairness Council, created to work for increased diversity in the legal profession. Create an online profile

by registering with My State Bar Profile. Kids & the Law essay contest for 4th and 5th graders
An essay contest for 4th and 5th graders will be held in honor of the 2007
re-release of Kids and the Law: An A-to-Z Guide for Parents.
