This NFL season, we're giving you, SportsNation, the opportunity to cast your vote of approval, or disapproval, of the job your favorite team's head coach is doing. Is he molding a winning team and inspiring championship-level play from his team? Or is he constantly tinkering with the offense and defense resulting in sloppy, erratic play? Is he making good decisions on the field and saying all the right things off the field? Or is he making crucial mistakes that cost the team games and then deflecting the blame?

The following are the latest results from the 2006 SportsNation NFL Head Coach Approval Ratings:

Saints Rest Up In Advance Of Playoffs
While most rookie head coaches were trying to figure out how to squeeze one last victory out of a disappointing season, Sean Payton's biggest worry was how much to rest his starters in the final week before a first round bye in the playoffs. The answer was a lot. Drew Brees attempted just five passes and Reggie Bush had just three touches in a 31-21 loss to the Panthers. Nearly a consensus pick for Coach of the Year, Payton has the Saints poised for their best season ever if they can win their divisional playoff game. Vote

Niners Play Spoiler; Send Chiefs To Playoffs
The next best thing to making the playoffs is forcing someone else to miss the playoffs. That's what the San Francisco 49ers had to settle for on Sunday. At 6-9 the 49ers weren't going to the playoffs but they also weren't getting any respect. Virtually everyone was putting the Broncos in the playoffs before they even took the field against San Francisco. The motivation for an upset was high and the Niners delivered with timely defense and just enough offense to pull out a 26-23 victory in overtime that ended the Broncos season and sent the Kansas City Chiefs to the postseason. Mangini Adds To Credentials For Coach Of The Year
Rookie head coach Eric Mangini didn't need to give any pep talks heading into the Week 17 matchup against the Raiders. If the Jets won, they would be playoff bound. That was apparently enough as the men in green delivered a convincing 23-3 victory to send them to the postseason. It's an improbable story after last season?s 4-12 record and a slew of changes from top to bottom within the organization, highlighted by the hiring of Mangini at the ripe old age of 35. Vote

Ravens Win; Get Much Needed Rest
The Baltimore Ravens flexed their defensive muscle to notch a 19-7 victory over the Bills in the final game of the regular season and claim the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs. The bye is of the utmost importance to the veteran-laden Ravens who are feeling the impact of 16 hard fought games. Defensive tackle Trevor Pryce may have put it best: "I'm old. I need it." Vote

Eagles Keep Momentum Rolling Heading Into Playoffs
The Philadelphia Eagles completed their miraculous end of season surge with a 24-17 win over the Falcons. Early in the game, coach Andy Reid got word that the Lions had defeated the Cowboys, thus handing the Eagles the NFC East title. Despite sending most of the starters to the sidelines, the backups proved more than adequate, led by quarterback A.J. Feeley who threw for a career-best 321 yards and three touchdowns. The Eagles will now prepare for the New York Giants in the first round of the playoffs. Vote

Titans' Win Streak Ends At 6
Jeff Fisher sure knows how to add drama to the already tense NFL season. After starting 0-5, Fisher got the young Titans to jump on the back of rookie quarterback Vince Young and reel off six straight wins to come within a hair of reaching the playoffs and throw his name in the ring for Coach of the Year. Sunday's 40-23 loss to the Patriots put an end to playoff hopes and Fisher might lose out to Sean Payton for coaching honors, but Titans owner Bud Adams was impressed enough to offer Fisher an extension to keep the momentum going into next season. Patriots Head Into Playoffs On A Roll
Bill Belichick faced an interesting dilemma entering Sunday's final regular season game against the Titans. His team could take it easy, rest the starters and be happy with a No. 4 seed in the AFC playoffs. Or, they could play to win, risking injury, for the chance to put themselves in position to move up to a No. 3 seed and with a few breaks, have a chance to host the AFC championship game should they advance that far. As you might expect, Belichick opted for playing all out and in doing so, defeated the Titans 40-23. Vote

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears on Sunday to finish the season with four straight wins and a 8-8 record in coach Mike McCarthy's rookie season. But none of that mattered. Rams rookie head coach Scott Linehan found himself helplessly rooting against the New Giants on Saturday night to improve his team's chances of securing a playoff spot. He learned the hard way you usually don't get what you want in this league by watching the Giants win, thus closing the door on the Rams' postseason hopes. Sunday's game against the Vikings became nothing more than a pride game to try and finish the season at .500. The Rams responded with a 41-21 victory thanks in part to Steve Jackson's 142 yards rushing to finish the season with 1,528. Vote

Cowher Gets Win In What Could Be Last Game
This surely wasn't how Bill Cowher envisioned the Week 17 matchup against the Bengals before the season started. What could have been a marquee matchup for the AFC North crown and a trip to the playoffs was instead a mostly meaningless exercise for Ben Roethlisberger and company as they closed the book on one of the more disappointing seasons in Steelers history. They did get some satisfaction in defeating the Bengals 23-17 in overtime to knock Cincinnati out of the playoffs but it was short lived. Head coach Bill Cowher is expected to announce his plans for next season in the coming week but most expect the longest-tenured coach in the league at 15 years to step down. But they also expect him to return in the near future. "He's too good of a coach to hang it up forever," Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer said. "I'm sure he'll be back. Bears Throttled By Packers On Eve Of Playoffs
When you are a No. 1 seed in the playoffs you are supposed to be feeling good with a week off and plenty of time to rest up and prepare for your opponent. But Lovie Smith might be the least happy playoff head coach in recent memory. The Bears didn't look like an elite team on Sunday, let alone a No. 1 seed, as they fell to the Packers 26-7. Not much of anything went right for Rod Marinelli this season. In addition to finishing the season with a 3-13 record after Sunday's 39-31 victory over the Cowboys, the rookie coach is slated to have hip replacement surgery this week which will keep him from coaching the Senior Bowl in late January, an honor given to the coaching staffs with the worst records as a chance for them to get up close and personal with all the top senior prospects in the upcoming draft. The good news for Marinelli is that most of the venom from Lions fans is directed toward GM Matt Millen who is 24-72 over his six-year tenure. However, if Millen is let go, a new GM is likely to want to hire a new coach. Does Marinelli deserve a second chance? Vote

Jaguars Start Looking To 2007
The Jaguars fell to 8-8 on Sunday after a 35-30 loss to a Chiefs team still clinging to playoff hopes. While most agree the Jaguars are better than 8-8, the retirement of Jimmy Smith and countless injuries this season took a toll on the team. After going 12-4 last season, 2006 was more than disappointing but there is virtually no talk of replacing Jack Del Rio as head coach. Broncos Fall To Niners; Miss Playoffs
This one is going to sting for years to come. With their destiny in their own hands, the Broncos simply needed a victory on their home field over the 6-9 San Francisco 49ers for a trip to the playoffs. Leading 13-0 in the second quarter, things were looking good. But a defensive letdown and a 17-point run by the 49ers made things interesting and in overtime, a 36-yard Joe Nedney field goal sent the Broncos packing and the Kansas Chiefs to the playoffs in their place. The Dallas Cowboys had already secured a playoff spot prior to Sunday's 39-31 loss to the Lions. But finishing the regular season on a two-game skid isn't what Bill Parcells had in mind when planning for the postseason. As the Cowboys prepare for the Seahawks in the first round, rumors are swirling about Parcells' future with the organization. Several reports stated that Parcells issued owner Jerry Jones an ultimatum that for him to return, the team would have to part ways with controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens. Marvin Lewis and the Bengals clung to longshot hopes of making the playoffs until Sunday's 23-17 overtime defeat at the hands of the Steelers ended any possibility of postseason play. Panthers Take Advantage Of Easy-Going Saints
For a team that was the preseason Super Bowl pick for many fans and analysts alike, the 2006 season was an utter disappointment for John Fox and the Panthers. Sunday's 31-21 victory against the Saints was a nice way to end the season but it was tempered by the fact the Saints rested virtually all of their key players having already secured homefield advantage. While offensive coordinator Dan Henning has taken most of the heat for his alleged conservative playcalling that has resulted in just 16.3 points per game this season, Fox quickly points out that it is the same offense and same plays that got the Panthers to the NFC championship game just last year. Washington Redskins fans can finally close the book on the disaster that was 2006. Some blame Gibbs' hesitation in benching quarterback Mark Brunell, others blame the lackluster play of several offseason acquisitions and many simply claim the game has passed Gibbs by. The Atlanta Falcons watched their playoff hopes evaporate on Saturday night with each bruising run by Tiki Barber in the New York Giants' victory. So by the time Sunday's game against the Eagles rolled around, the intensity just wasn't there and the Falcons fell 24-17. Quarterback Michael Vick sprained his right ankle on the first play of the third quarter which allowed backup Matt Schaub to get some valuable face time, if not for the Falcons staff, then the rest of the league that will surely be trying to woo the Falcons for his services. Tiki Barber couldn't have picked a better time to come up with the best game of his 10-year NFL career. With his team in need of a win to squeak into the playoffs and his coach needing a win to improve his chances of retaining his job, Barber turned 23 carries into 234 yards and three touchdowns as the Giants downed the Redskins 34-28.
