Ischiofemoral Ligament

The ischiofemoral ligament reinforces the fibrous capsule posteriorly. It arises from the ischial part of the acetabular rim, then spirals to its insertion on the medial part of the greater trochanter (i.e. not the posterior femoral neck). In its course, it reflects over the posterior femoral neck. It prevents hyperextension.
