Stop The Execution Of Richard Cartwright

Richard Cartwright was TEXECUTED on May 19, 2005.

I am asking for your help and support. Richard Cartwright, is scheduled to be executed by the State of Texas on May 19th at 6 p.m. Your help is vital at this time. Richard is innocent of this crime.

Your help can make all the difference. Just ask Ernest Willis. In October of 2004, Mr. Willis walked off death row in Texas for a crime that he did not commit. He spent 17 years on death row. You can read Mr. Willis’ story on the internet.

I wish you could meet my friend Rich Cartwright! His sense of humor would have you laughing hysterically, and possibly leave you with wet pants! He can ride a motorcycle like an Olympic skier can slalom, he loves hockey, and he loves to fix up cars, motorcycles, or anything else with a motor. He is a die hard Chicago Bears fan, and he goes by the nickname Chi-town, since he grew up in a Chicago suburb. He is the most excellent son, father, brother, and friend you could ask for.

I have known Rich for over 6 years and have been to visit him 3 times. I will be going down to see him in 2 months, but this time our visit will be much different, unless something changes quickly.

Take a look at your calendar. Turn to May 19th and MARK THAT DAY. If you can, please put yourself in Rich’s shoes and feel what it is like to have a scheduled date with death for something you did not do. How does it make you feel? How do you think it will affect your loved ones now, and after you are gone?

Rich is so dear to me, and I can’t imagine not having him in my life. I don’t even want to think about it. His execution will break my heart, as well as the hearts of his mother, wife, daughter, sister, and many other friends and family that love him very much. We need your help now. I could go into the injustices of the Texas judicial system and Rich’s case in particular, but instead I will ask you to visit his websites for this information because I want to make this introduction brief.

Rich does not have access to computers, telephones or TV, so his website is kept up by people on the “outside.” His only means of communication to anyone is by postal mail. He can’t even call his family.

I have said, at many points in my life that I want to make a difference in the world. Often this statement comes around New Years or Lent. Now I am offering each of you that same opportunity. Help save Richard Cartwright. Don’t let the State of Texas extinguish his bright, funny, wonderful life too soon. Anything you do CAN make a difference, and that’s what counts!
