Travel Guide Lists Tulsa as Top 10 City
Even the experts agree - Tulsa doesn't readily come to mind when
vacation time rolls around. Yet a traveling convoy of editors and
writers with Fodor's Travel Publications say Oklahoma's second-largest
city is a treat for the senses - as well as the pocketbook. Tulsa offers
so many delightful, undiscovered amenities that the travel guide
specialists named the city one of its 10 outstanding travel destinations
of 2002. And editors rated the relatively small but sophisticated city
for travelers seeking an escape minus crowds and high price tag.
Spotlighted are Tulsa's American Indian culture, its
magnificent art deco buildings and host of summer festivals. The
Woolaroc museum and animal preserve was noted as the top outing, with
Western Hills Guest Ranch named as best place to stay. The
not-to-miss event was a performance of Oklahoma! at Discoveryland!

"No matter how many times you have seen this ebullient
musical, there's nothing quite like viewing it in its home state
underneath the stars. If you're like this reporter, a shiver will run
down your back despite yourself when the chorus breaks into OKLAHOMA!"
~ New York Daily News
"What better place to see OKLAHOMA! than in the state that
inspired the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical. A 2,000-seatamphitheatre
built into a hillside about 15 miles from the heart of the city
providesthenatural outdoor setting...the production is OUTSTANDING!"
~ San Diego Tribune
"The great outdoors is the site of this OKLAHOMA! The play is
presented like none you've seen before. Real horses and a full-sized
surrey with the fringe on top cross the earthen stage."
~ The Chicago Star
