Your adventure happens on one of the most famous sailing lakes in North America! Camp Kern is on the banks of Huntington Lake 7,000 ft above the San Joaquin Valley floor in the High Sierra Mountains of California. All troops load their gear and themselves onto camp barges and cross Huntington Lake, where their week long Boy Scout camp memories commence.

You’ll disembark onto the docks at the waterfront where you can fine tune your sailing and rowing skills. A short, steep climb up Scout Law Trail delivers you into the heart of camp. Camp Kern is proud to offer great programs such as Trail to First Class, wilderness camping, high adventure, all leading a Scout to his goal of Eagle Scout merit badges.

Get ready for the summer of your life! Camp Kern offers more than traditional Scout camp programs. Our experienced, trained staff teaches Scouts the skills and life experiences they will not find anywhere else. Once you have experienced Camp Kern, you will want to come back year after year.

So, check your gear, and start making plans right now. Camp Kern will be your HOME for a week and you will bring back experiences to last a lifetime.

We look forward to seeing you on the dock.

Your adventure starts Here!

Food Service Terrific in 2006!:

Camp Kern served terrific meals in 2006 and we expect more of the same in 2007. Delicious entrees were prepared by advanced students in the Bakersfield College Culinary Arts Program and were enjoyed by all. Camp food just got better!
