A Brief History of the Newsletter

Public-Access Computer Systems News (PACS News) was an electronic newsletter about end-user computer systems in libraries. It was published by the University of Houston Libraries.

The PACS News was established in 1990 by Charles W. Bailey, Jr. and Dana Rooks. The first issue was published as an e-mail message on the PACS-L mailing list on March 5, 1990. Starting on January 17, 1992, the newsletter was also distributed on the PACS-P mailing list.

In 1993, Linda Thompson replaced Mr. Bailey as co-editor. In 1994, Ann Thornton replaced Ms. Rooks. The last issue was published on September 12, 1995.
