Welcome to the home of the New Hampshire Troopers Association. It is our mission to represent the non-commissioned men and women of the New Hampshire State Police. The NHTA was formed in 1990 with the purpose of ensuring the best possible working conditions for the Troopers that serve New Hampshire. It is also our goal to give back to the community which we serve. The NHTA has done this through scholarship programs; assistance to the families of fallen police officers; and assistance to charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Operation Santa Clause, and the Special Olympics.
New Hampshire Troopers work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through out New Hampshire in order to protect the State's citizens. Since 1937, Troopers have dedicated themselves to providing the highest degree of law enforcement service through out the state while maintaining the traditions of fairness, professionalism, and integrity. The New Hampshire State Police is the only law enforcement agency in the state to provide such a wide array of special services which include an Explosives Disposal Unit, an Aviation Unit, Narcotics Investigations, Major Crime Investigations, Technical Accident Reconstruction (TAR), a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Crisis Negotiators, a Special Events Response Team (SERT), a Motorcycle Unit, DARE Officers, a Drill Team, Drug Recognition Experts, and a Canine Unit. We encourage you to visit the New Hampshire State Police website to learn more about all of the special services that the State Police provides.
Be sure to check our "In the News" section to find out about the heroic action that a Trooper and the Plainfield Police took in order to save a woman from a burning vehicle. Read about the chain reaction that Troopers responded to that left one man dead. Also find out how the State Police has captured a suspect in the murder of a Warren man and see more about the multi-town pursuit that recently occurred in the Goffstown area.
We have just added many new photos from the SWAT Team's recent training session with the State Police Helicopter. Be sure to check out all of the pictures in our Photographs section.
On April 7, 2007 members of the new Hampshire State Police will again be taking on Boston Bruins Alumni at "The Rinks" in Exeter. Eastern Advertising is assisting us with fundraising for the event, which will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The New Hampshire Troopers Association is deeply saddened by the death of Manchester Police Officer Michael Briggs. The thoughts and prayers of our entire membership are with his family. We also extend our deepest condolences to our Brothers and Sisters at the Manchester Police Department. The NHTA sincerely hopes that the person responsible for this heinous crime is punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Officer Michael Briggs was shot responding to a domestic disturbance 15 minutes prior to the end of his shift on October 16, 2006. He died as a result of a bullet wound to the head. Officer Briggs leaves behind a wife and two children. The Manchester Police Patrolman's Association has set up a fund for Officer Briggs' family. Congratulations to Michael Isabelle of Massachusetts who won a brand new 2007 Pontiac Solstice courtesy of Mr. Bob Werner of the Werner Auto Dealerships of Manchester. We would like to thank everyone who helped support the Officer Briggs Family Memorial Fund Raffle. It was an overwhelming success, which generated over $100,000 for Officer Briggs' family. The NHTA would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mr. Werner for making this raffle happen. Mr. Werner is a true friend of all law enforcement and we are forever in his debt.
The New Hampshire State Police has just completed redesigning their website. They have a lot of new information detailing all of the specialized services that Troopers provide. You may also find answers to commonly asked questions as well as recruiting information for the position of a Trooper.
It has been brought to our attention that various groups are fundraising throughout the state which falsely claim to be, or to represent the New Hampshire Troopers Association. It is extremely disturbing to learn that because of such misrepresentations, many people have lent their financial support to these organizations. In order to help prevent this from happening in the future, we have added a fundraising section to our website. Here you will be able to find out what type of fundraising activities the NHTA conducts, organizations which are NOT affiliated with the New Hampshire Troopers Association, as well as who to contact to verify fundraising activities.
The 2006 Dodge Chargers are currently being issued by the New Hampshire State Police. Make sure to drive carefully so that you don't see these new vehicles in your rear view mirror.
The 7 th Annual NHTA Golf Tournament was held on August 14, 2006. Thanks to our sponsors and participants it was an overwhelming success. We sincerely thank all who have helped to make this event possible so that we can continue our charitable activities. We hope that you will take the time to view the sponsors of the 2005 NH Troopers Golf Classic and the 2004 NH Troopers Golf Classic. We encourage you to support our sponsors.
