Upcoming Events at the Food Bank
They say you shouldn't go shopping when you're hungry, but this spring, we'd like you to think about those who are. As you shop our local Hy-Vee Food Stores and local Fareway Stores March 2, 3, and 4 , you can add a $1 or $3 donation to your shopping bill. By having the cashier scan a coupon available at the register, which is then automatically added to your total, you are donating to the hungry while buying groceries for your own family.
As always, volunteers play a critical role. Volunteers are needed to hand out fliers to incoming shoppers in Waterloo , Waverly and Cedar Falls Hy-Vee Food Stores as well as Waterloo , Cedar Falls and Evansdale Fareway Stores. Please consider volunteering your time at a local grocery store to support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank or take the time to add a few dollars to your shopping bill to help someone who can't afford groceries.

A big THANK YOU to our sponsoring locations:
Barilla Pasta recently expanded its partnership with America's Second Harvest Network. Barilla has been a supporter for hunger relief efforts since 1997. In an effort to increase awareness around hunger in America and to support the work of the A2H, Barilla created their “Celebrity Pasta Lovers' Cookbook”.
The cookbook will be available to download free of charge at www.CelebrityPastaLovers.com throughout the month of February. For every person who downloads this cookbook, Barilla will donate $1 to America's Second Harvest, up to $100,000. You also have the opportunity to donate directly to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank on this website!
Barilla pasta products can be found at our local grocery stores and the nearest distribution center located in Ames, IA. For more information about Barilla Pasta visit their website at www.barilla.com.
The Northeast Iowa Food Bank would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to the community for your dedication this year to the Food Bank. We appreciate all the shoppers who donated money to get their presents wrapped at our annual gift wrap station at College Square Mall in Cedar Falls. This year you helped bring in almost $4,000, and we estimated over 905 volunteer hours for this fundraiser. Thank you to the numerous volunteers who dedicated their time, energy, and enthusiasm to wrapping presents for us this year. Thank you to Rabo AgriFinance, Cedar Falls High School, and Veridian Credit Union for sending us many volunteers. At a time when we are seeing a drastic increase in the number of families being served by our pantry, as well as more member agencies needing the service we provide, your donation of your time and money is invaluable. We would also like to thank the College Square Mall Management for their kind donation of the location space for our event, and for all their help and assistance with supplies. Also, thank you to all of the donations of gift wrap, bows, and ribbon!
If you are interested in getting involved with the gift wrap in 2007 please contact Val at email@example.com or 319-235-0507 ext. 122.
