Greetings from the Northeast! I hope everyone has had a great year so far and is psyched for Convention!
Much has occurred in the Northeast over the past few months. On Make a Difference Day, many Northeast Ohio JCLers from Woodridge, Westlake and Shaker gathered at Hinckley Reservation to clean up trash on the trails. However, there was little trash to be picked up. So instead, (while infrequently happening on a stray cigarette butt or discarded bag of chips) we enjoyed a mini-hike around the lake in freezing cold and driving snow/hail.
Right before Christmas, several Shaker OJCLers journeyed for the second year in a row to Westlakes holiday bash, to wrap presents for needy children. We topped last years total of 80 by wrapping more than ninety gifts! We also had fun playing DDR and eating delicious deserts supplied by the Westlake Latin Club.
Here in Shaker, were busily preparing for the upcoming convention (yay!) with our new sponsor, Mr. Potkalitsky. Earlier in the year, we finished 2nd to the German Club (for at least the third year in a row) in the homecoming float contest, with our Wizard of Oz-themed entry. We also had a movie night.
Weve also had snack at nearly every meeting (a welcome continuation from last year).
Also, there are now, thanks to 1st VP Alli Heimann, OJCL groups on Facebook and mySpace. You should join them to meet and chat with your fellow OJCLers from around the state.
Have fun preparing for Convention, and see you in March
