Why can't I get the screen savers and 3-D games to install with Plus! SuperPack CD #1 (Plus! for Windows XP)?
A 3-D graphics accelerator with a minimum of 16 MB of video RAM compatible with Microsoft Direct3D version 8.0 is required to run screen savers, games, and visualizations in Plus! for Windows XP. If you have less than 16 MB of video RAM, you will still be able to run Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP; however, you will not be able to install the following features:
• Screen savers
• HyperBowl Plus! Edition
• The Labyrinth Plus! Edition
• Plus! 3-D Visualization
To verify that your computer meets the Plus! for Windows XP system requirements, run Plus! for Windows XP - Installation Advisor. You can download and run Plus! for Windows XP - Installation Advisor, from the Plus! for Windows XP System Configuration page.
Or, you can use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool on your computer to determine how much video memory you have:
- On the Start menu, click Run.
- In the Open text box, type dxdiag, and then click OK.
If you receive a dialog asking if you want to connect to the Internet to download new WHQL certificates, click Yes.
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens and creates a report about the DirectX components and drivers installed on your computer.
- On the Display tab, review the information under Device. The Approx. Total Memory must be greater than or equal to 16.0 MB to install Plus! 3-D features.
If you are sure you have at least 16 MB of Video Memory but get the warning message, install Windows XP Service Pack 2 and update your video drivers. For general information about Windows updates or to install Windows XP Service Pack 2, see the Microsoft Windows Update page. To update your video drivers, download and install the latest video drivers from the manufacturer's Web site.

Why do errors 27000 and 1304 appear when I'm trying to install Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition)?
On drives formatted to use the NTFS file system, the Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition) Installation Wizard might not be able to access the Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents folder to install required files. This issue occurs because administrators or members of the Administrators group, the System group, and the Users group do not have Read and Write permissions for that folder on an NTFS drive.
Grant administrators Read and Write permissions for the All Users\Documents folder. For more information about setting permissions, see article 813649, "Error 27000 or Error 1304 When You Try to Install Microsoft Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Why do I get an error message about the Plus! Digital Edition.msi file when I attempt to install Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition)?
A few users have not been able to install Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition). We are continuing to investigate this issue.
Users may be experiencing the problem because the installation program cannot find or access the Plus! Digital Media Edition.msi file that was installed with the initial version of Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition).
You are prompted to specify the location of the file or the following error message is displayed:
"The path 'C:\Docume~1\Owner\Locals~1\Temp\Plus! Digital Media Edition.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product Microsoft Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition)."
The file may have been deleted from the temporary directory (\Documents and Settings\<User name>\Local Settings\Temp), or the entire temporary directory may have been deleted after the initial version of Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition) was installed.
To solve, try one of the following options:
Option 1
- Start the setup program for the initial version of Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition).
- Click Cancel in the dialog box that contains the following message:
"Welcome to the Plus! Digital Media Edition Installation Wizard.
This wizard enables you to add or remove Plus! Digital Media Edition components or remove Plus! Digital Media Edition from your computer."
- Then try installing Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition) again.
Option 2
Uninstall the initial version of Plus! Digital Media Edition you have on your PC. Then install Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition) from the Plus! Web site.
Important Make sure to have your Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition) product key available because you will need it to activate Plus! SuperPack CD #2 (Plus! Digital Media Edition).

Why don't my mouse movements seem to affect where panning and zooming occurs when I am narrating my photo story?
Automatic panning and zooming in Photo Story is determined by a complex formula. Plus! Photo Story takes into account the mouse placement during narration, but it also takes into account the way in which the previous picture was panned and zoomed. For example, Photo Story uses the formula to ensure that your photos are not always panned from left to right. Because of this formula, there is no way for you to use mouse movements or clicks to determine exactly how panning and zooming effects appear in the final photo story. To have more control over panning and zooming in your stories, on the Record your story page, click Advanced.

Why do I hear audio, but cannot see the video when I play my photo story on a friend's computer?
This issue typically occurs when a computer does not have the Windows Media Video Image codecs installed. To install the necessary codecs, do one of the following:

On the computer where you are attempting to view the story, download and install Media Player 10 Series, which includes the necessary codecs.

Why is the video distorted when I play my photo story VCD on Windows Media Player 9 Series?
An aspect ratio issue within Windows Media Player causes the Player to incorrectly resize MPEG-1 files, such as your photo story VCD, when you play them. If the Player applies the correct aspect ratio, a 352 X 240 file, for example, is shown with a 320 X 240 aspect ratio. However, the Player incorrectly resizes an MPEG-1 file to a 312 X 240 aspect ratio.
To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. If you are not severely affected by this problem, though, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this fix.

If you still experience problems after applying the updates, you can use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool on your computer to test DirectDraw and Direct3D to make sure they are working properly on your system.
To check your computer using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool:
- On the Start menu, click Run.
- In the Open text box, type dxdiag and then click OK.
If you receive a dialog asking if you want to connect to the Internet to download new WHQL certificates, click Yes.
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens and creates a report about the DirectX components and drivers installed on your computer.
- On the Display tab, click Test DirectDraw, and then click Test Direct3D.
- Review the information under Notes to make sure all tests were successful. If the tests fail, try installing or reinstalling Windows XP Service Pack 2, and the updated video drivers.

Creating Dancers, Skins, and Transitions
 1.
Will there be a Plus! SuperPack Software Development Kit (SDK) that I can use to create my own dancers, Plus! Party Mode for Windows Media Player skins, and Windows Movie Maker transitions?
There are no plans to release a Plus! SuperPack SDK; however, the PartyMode.wmz file contains information about creating your own Party Mode skins.
Any developer who has created skins for Windows Media Player can create or customize Party Mode skins. Developers should review the skins development guide stored in the PartyMode.wmz file.
The process for creating skins for Party Mode closely follows the Windows Media Player 9 Series SDK skins programming model, with a few minor differences. The easiest way to create skins is to open existing Party Mode skin files and make changes to those files.
For more information about creating your own Windows Movie Maker 2 transitions, see MSDN Online.
