This ain't right

Devo 2.0? Saw a commercial this weekend on one of the kid networks. Stereogum already covered these tracks a few days ago but I thought it was worth passing along.

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night - Saw an ad for the Winchester Club in Cleveland this weekend. It boasts a March 10 appearance by the Bay City Rollers. I'm sensing that this is some sort of scam, that somewhere along the way somebody purchased the BCR name and is using it to tour even though there are no original members in the band. I could be wrong. I can't find ANYTHING on the web about the touring Bay City Rollers but I do know that the original singer - Les McKeown - has a website and it shows NO U.S. tour dates. Of course, I'm guessing that McKeown and former Bay City Rollers guitarist Patrick McGlynn probably won't be allowed to leave the UK for quite some time due to a recent drug bust

Everybody's blogging

In today's USA Weekend there is an article about fictional TV characters who write blogs in the voice of the character. The ones that provide links to are:

> Dwight Schrute-Space (from The Office) which can found at http://www.schrutespace.com.
> Barney's Blog (from How I Met Your Mother) which can be found at http://www.barneysblog.com.
> Joe's Bloge (from Grey's Anatomy) which can be found at http://www.emeraldcitybar.com.
> The Nurse's Stations (from Grey's Anatomy) which can be found at http://www.seattlegracegossip.com.

Know of any others? Leave a link in the Comments.

Lordy, lordy, look who's posting

* Mrs. Ned wants to make us both I'm Addicted to Intervention t-shirts.

* Does it bother anybody else that 9.5 times out of 10, when you see a TV character carrying a cup of coffee, the cup is actually empty? I mean, I know how careful I am when carrying coffee so as to not spill any on my hand; these actors and actresses pay no attention to their coffee. And you can even hear the hollow sound of the cup when they set it down on a table/desk/etc.

* Devin sent me a link to a great (lengthy) interview with Phil Lewis of L.A. Guns. I like Devin because we both share a love of not only hair metal, but of '90s Brit-rock and Veruca Salt. I like L.A. Guns because, well, shit, they STILL sound good.

* Ray West, former lead singer for one of my favorite bands of all time, Spread Eagle (listen to "Revolution Maker"), has a MySpace page featuring a song from his new band Element of Dysfunction. HOLY SHIT, I hope there is more where that came from. (Psst ... if you're a regular reader of this column, you know my taste in music so be forewarned, Elements of Dysfunction isn't for everybody).

* This thread on the MetalSludge message board is the most amazing message board thread I've ever come across. People are uploading out-of-print hair metal CDs and posting links so that people can download those CDs. The thread, as of today, is 115 pages long and filled with links, requests, comments, etc. Just yesterday I snagged a CD by Alleycat Scratch (download it here - it's a fast download).

* In the very near future I'll finally catch up to the rest of the Donewaiting staff and post my favorites of 2005. Bet you're holding your breath in anticipation.

Starfool launches

Because I don't have enough to do, may I present to you my new MP3 blog, Starfool. Look for this site to be updated often - probably more often that Atomic Ned. I'll be posting links to MP3s that are currently playing on my MP3 player.
