The Special Metals group of companies was created in 1998 when Special Metals Corporation purchased the Inco Alloys International group, creating the world's leading producer of high-performance nickel-based alloys. The company's new, international and expanded business has grown to include manufacturing and research facilities in the U.S. and Europe , sales offices in North America , Europe and Asia , and stock-holding distributors in most of the industrialized countries of the world.

A just-in-time manufacturer, Special Metals relies on Oracle for every aspect of its factory-floor operations. If the ERP suite shuts down, so does the factory-and people on the floor can't work.
