Star Search

Antonella Barba, the “American Idol” semi-finalist from Point Pleasant, N.J., has suddenly emerged as the favorite, according to Yahoo Buzz.

The Yahoo search count cannot predict how people will vote when the competition resumes tomorrow — but it is a reliable gauge of which singers have caught the eye of the audience most likely to vote.

Here is a list of the top 24 in order of most searches done on Yahoo!
1. Antonella Barba, Point Pleasant, N.J. She didn’t bring the most searches from the New York audition (that honor belonged to the bearded Sean Michel), but natural talent and not Machiavellian techniques (per Simon’s rec), got her into the top. Um, plus the bikini.
2. Chris Sligh, Greenville, S.C. Will he get his chance to make David Hasselhoff cry? His curly mop and dry wit have made him popular among his fellow competitors and the public.
3. Sundance Jason Head, Porter, Texas. He aced the Memphis auditions, then biffed Hollywood … but still managed to score a seat. Besides checking his musical lineage, people may be searching for Sundance to see how he got so lucky.
4. Paul Kim, Saratoga , Calif.
5. Sanjaya Malakar, Federal Way, Wash.
6. Blake Lewis, Bothel , Wash.
7. Jordin Sparks, Glendale, Ariz.
8. Chris Richardson, Chesapeake, Va.
9. Leslie Hunt, Chicago, Ill.
10. Melinda Doolittle, Brentwood, Tenn.

When TV is not Enough: DVD Releases

It’s like reruns, without the commercials: TV series released on DVD today.

“Beauty and the Beast” Season One
Linda Hamilton’s Catherine has one up on Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw when comparing who dated the biggest beast in New York. And he lived in a sewer – not those renovated, exposed-brick sewers, but the New York sewers of 1987.

“The Hills” Season One
Like, ohmigosh. “The Hills” gave L.C. a spin-off from “Laguna Beach,” which was originally an “O.C.” rip-off. Relive those tense first moments at Teen Vogue.

“Zoey 101” Season One
Britney Spears’ kid sister, Jamie Lynn, gets her own series. And unlike her sister’s show, Jamie’s doesn’t use night-vision shots. Or force us to watch Federline.
