Middle School Program

For students in grades 6 through 8, the St. Joseph Middle School program builds upon the foundation learned during the elementary years. Since 1894, this program has provided guidance and development of the whole child, their mind, body, and spirit in a faith-based and faith filled curriculum.

The basic curriculum includes religious instruction, language arts, science, social studies, and math (Algebra is offered in  eighth grade). Students attend an annual religious retreat and participate in Mass twice a week and on Holy Days of Obligation. Course and elective selections are done at enrollment (and thereafter in each spring semester) with the help of our counselor. Smaller classes encourage student participation, allow teachers to pay attention to individual students, and bolster a friendly, family-like atmosphere where the child is able to express individuality in an accredited learning, competitive, yet Christian environment.

Enrichment classes include Spanish, computer applications, physical education, art, and music/band. Beginning in sixth grade, students may also participate in a variety of extracurricular and other activities, including science fair, football, volleyball, band, cheerleading, basketball, Student Council, Scouting, Builder’s Club, track, cross country, academic contests through PSIA (Private School Interscholastic Association), and Math Counts to name a few.

Meal tickets may be purchased in the office for those wishing daily lunch service provided by the cafeteria. Middle school students wear a basic required uniform. For your convenience, a “Uniform Fair” will be held at our school on June 23, 2004. After School Care (Teen Club) is available until 6:00 p.m. each school day.

A student questionnaire, two recommendations, previous academic history, and an interview with administration are needed for acceptance of enrollment. We will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have about our school or the enrollment process.

High School Program

The St. Joseph Catholic High School program graduated its first class in 1998 as a continuation of our commitment to the excellence in education for the elementary and middle school which started in 1894. The High School program offers a college preparatory curriculum to all students including basic core classes and an expanding variety of electives. Small class size encourages students to be involved and allows teachers the opportunity to give individualized attention. The family atmosphere allows students to bolster life-long friendships in a faith-filled environment of learning and competition.

St. Joseph high school students are invited and encouraged to participate in many outside learning experiences as well. Our students have met with, had lunch with, and attended many functions with former Presidents, US government officials, and world leaders. These opportunities have given St. Joseph students experiences rarely found in large classrooms elsewhere.

Also, fundamental to any high school program is its extracurricular activities. St. Joseph has participated and has developed a winning tradition is all aspects of academic, art, and sports related competition. The High School competes in TAPPS contests such as football, volleyball, basketball, softball, baseball, cross country, track, cheerleading, band, music, art, and the full range of academic topics. An outstanding 98% of the students are involved in some aspect of academic, art, music, or athletic competition.

Other activities include the Texas BEST Robotics Contest, Student Council, Key Club, National Honor Society, Scouting, Latin Hip Hop Dancers, yearbook, and science fair. A full listing of the course selections, electives, and activities is available with the counselor. The high school is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Accreditation Commission.
