ABC News Correspondent

Taina Hernandez is co-anchor of “World News Now” and “America This Morning,” ABC’s early morning news programs. She also regularly reports for “Good Morning America,” as well as “World News Saturday and Sunday.”

Previously Ms. Hernandez was a Los Angeles-based and then New York-based correspondent for the network. She joined ABC News in December 2001 as a correspondent for NewsOne, the affiliate news service of ABC News.

As a Los Angeles-based correspondent, Ms. Hernandez reported extensively on environmental issues, the California wildfires, the recall of California governor Gray Davis and other breaking news stories across the western states. She covered a number of high profile criminal cases, including the disappearance of Laci Peterson and the subsequent murder trial of Scott Peterson, as well as the trials of Michael Jackson and Robert Blake. Ms. Hernandez reported on the medical progress of formerly conjoined twins in Guatemala and traveled to the Middle East to cover rising tensions in the region.

As a NewsOne correspondent, Ms. Hernandez traveled throughout the Northeast to cover breaking news, including extensive post-September 11, 2001 coverage.

Prior to joining ABC News, she was a reporter and substitute anchor in New York City for various local stations, including NY1 News and ABC-owned station WABC.

Ms. Hernandez is a graduate of Brown University. She was born in Brooklyn, New York.
