Malabar
In the heart of Bucktown, Malabar opened its doors November 1st with a swanky soirée. Among the organic, handmade jewelry designed by Venezuelan owner Claudia Kleiner, you will also find an array of fine and innovative accessories and clothing for both women and men, all freshly imported from Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, and topped off with a few pieces from our local designers such as Orlando Espinoza.

It’s visibly a little trendy, although that is not Claudia’s first concern. The classic beauty and elegance of Latin women, the subtle European influences of their clothes and femininity are the things that inspire her most. Hence the upscale feel of the store.

Claudia travels across Latin America in search of unique pieces, and the quality of fabrics she can swear by. As a result Malabar carries a mélange of unusual jewelry pieces made for example of black and red coral, cow bone, fish bone seed, as well as calfskin and other leather accessories, killer heels from Kathryn Kerrigan, Oh Deer and Fly London , great fitting jeans, and subtly sexy cocktail dresses by the likes of Orlando Espinoza or Angel Sanchez.

For the male shopper, there is a small but well equipped section composed of everything from suits, shirts, ties, jerseys, to sweaters, as well as bright casual wear; including Penguin Black Label. In the upstairs mezzanine Claudia also has a few hand picked lingerie and nightwear pieces by Betsey Johnson.
