· At the core of all the Olympic and Paralympic Games, there are always universal values: participation, enthusiasm, commitment, fair play, determination, and noble-mindedness.
But perhaps the Paralympic Winter Games best represent the pinnacle of the Olympic Spirit. Man, with his strength of will, overcomes his own limits; the athlete embodies the most moving message of all: that there are simply different abilities, each magnificent, each electrifying.
Today Piedmont is one of the most hospitable and accessible regions to disabled people, tourists and athletes. This objective was reached thanks to a courageous policy that involved fighting against the presence of architectonic barriers and the creation of equal opportunities for people with reduced or without moving ability.

The Progetto Piemonte 2006
The
Progetto Piemonte 2006 was created
entirely without architectonic barriers and with free entrance for disabled people, and the work to build facilities and to launch Piedmont as a tourist and sport area was the biggest and most capital-intensive project that an Italian region has ever attempted.

http://www.comune.torino.it/pass/php/1/homenew.php) has been created by Passepartout, editorial office of the Division for Social Services and Relations with Local Health Units. The site has a huge section dealing with rights, opportunities and services for people with a disability. It publishes service information, articles and studies every day, and has a large multi-lingual section dedicated to the Torino 2006 Paralympic Winter Games.
