February 15, 2007 - Director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) tells IGN he has commenced work with screenwriter Mike White (Nacho Libre) on Them for Universal Pictures. The duo will co-write the screenplay, and Wright will direct.

Variety reported Universal's intention to make Them -- which they described as "a conspiracy comedy about one woman's journey to unmask the secret rulers of the world" -- more than a year ago. Wright has since been occupied with bringing his second feature, Hot Fuzz, to theaters.

"Hot Fuzz has taken almost all of my time for about two years now," he says. "I only just finished editing it, so the paint is still wet you could say. I've started working with Mike. I'm really looking forward to this. He's simply brilliant when comes to creating quirky characters."

Wright is also set to adapt two comic book properties for the big screen: Marvel's Ant Man and Oni Press' Scott Pilgrim.

"Ant Man is in a bit of a holding pattern. We're figuring things out with the script and we haven't initiated casting. We still have quite a bit to do. I expect I'll have more to say about it in a few months. I'm also going to be working with Bryan Lee O'Malley on Scott Pilgrim. It's incredibly exciting because I'm such an admirer of his work. We haven't really started on this yet. We've traded some ideas, so again it's very much all in an early formative stage."

And what about re-teaming with Simon Pegg for a third film?

"That's the question everyone wants the answer to," notes Wright. "The good news is the answer is: Yes. Simon and I are going to do another movie. We have ideas we're tossing around, as we always do. We just haven't decided which one it's going to be."
