SATELLITE EXPRESS PRESS TOUR HEADED TO MEMPHIS
August 19, 2003
ITTA BENA, MS – After a few days off the track, the Satellite Express
Press Tour will resume its course by heading to Memphis, TN on
tomorrow (Wednesday, August 20), to host a press conference in
the heart of Graceland.
Mississippi Valley State University head football coach, Willie “Satellite” Totten
will be speaking to the MVSU Memphis area alumni chapter in an effort
to promote the upcoming season.
A press conference will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select
Airport in Conference Room D. Refreshments will be served and MVSU supporters
are encouraged to come out and meet with Coach Totten.
MVSU will be celebrating 50 years of football when the season kickoffs
in Jackson, MS on August 30th . University officials are expecting a sellout
crowd at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium when the Delta Devils face off
with the Jaguars of Southern University.
The two teams played to the wire in 2002 with the Jaguars edging MVSU
19-16 in Baton Rouge, LA. Both teams finished last season strong, with
MVSU’s claiming three straight victories and the Jaguars finishing
5-1 in their last six ball games.
“I think this year’s game is going to be one for the ages,” Totten
said. “We have had an exciting fall camp thus far and I have no
doubt that this team is ready to compete for a SWAC Championship. Southern’s
not going to lay down for anyone. One thing about (Southern’ s head
Coach) Pete Richardson, is that his team’s are going to be well
coached and ready to play. It’s going to be an exciting day for
football fans.”
