Charles Spurgeon pointed out that the carnal mind is not merely opposed to God but is "positive enmity. It is not black, but blackness; it is not at enmity, but enmity itself; it is not corrupt, but corruption; it is not rebellious, it is rebellion; it is not wicked, it is wickedness itself. The heart, though it be deceitful, is positively deceit; it is evil in the concrete, sin in the essence; it is the distillation, the quintessence of all things that are vile; it is not envious against God, it is envy; it is not at enmity, it is actual enmity." Therefore, the "free will" of the unregenerate mind is in bondage and is incapable of rendering proper judgment because abstractions like "right" and "wrong" become purely subjective. Who says that raping children is wrong? Why is your opinion any better than your neighbor’s? This is why democracy is a sham - because it has no standard of measurement. Forming White nations free of God’s law will be a fruitless exercise, and I’m too busy to waste time. These folks would benefit greatly from reading Van Til and Rushdoony.

True love for the Negro would entail separating them from their White benefactors and encouraging them to make it on their own. But this is totally unacceptable to the Mrs. Jellybys of the White race because it would rob them of their cause and personal importance.

Elizabeth Wright, our favorite Black woman, agrees with Sailer. She says Whites are always desperate to find the "Good Black," or what is termed the "Magic Negro" in cinema, to assuage the guilt they feel for despising the vast majority of Blacks. Whites "periodically ‘discover’ or invent a Colin Powell out of a determined desire to elevate or enhance the profile of blacks. In this way, they are assured of a reputable black person worthy of their acclaim. Obama is, indeed, this year’s Colin Powell."

Sean Lucas, who did a hack job on R.L. Dabney for his doctoral thesis, and who is an associate of Magic Negro Anthony Bradley, writes: "Presbyterian historiography in the post-World War II era sought to reinforce the denomination’s self-image as a centrist, ‘mainline’ force upholding the best American values, especially moderation, cooperation, and religious liberty. Also key was the way Presbyterian historians reflected the changing ways Americans thought about cultural and ethnic assimilation. Drawing upon sociological analyses that were beginning to question assumptions of anglo-conformity, Presbyterian historians would shift how they talked about assimilation into the church and American culture. In place of older stories of a Presbyterian-Puritan inheritance that would give the Presbyterian church a decidedly Anglo-hue, Presbyterian historians groped toward stories that would emphasize the differences in the way minorities of race, class, and gender experienced the Presbyterian way of faith. The struggle for Presbyterian historiography was to honor the developing pluralistic model for understanding modern American life while still holding on to a center for religious identity and demonstrating Presbyterianism’s value and relevance for Americans." Except that presbyterians are more irrelevant than ever, and the "center" is unable to hold. The liberal churches have gone the way of all flesh. It is they who are schismatic, not we. Andrew Murray, author of Presbyterians and the Negro (1966) predicted that "the role of white denominations, like the Presbyterians, will probably be to identify themselves with the Negro’s struggle for full equality and help him secure full participation in housing, jobs, and education." Here Lucas calls Dabney "controversial," "angry," and a "rank racis[t]." That only tells us that Dabney had far more to say than the pantywaists who have hijacked his church.

Here’s some interesting criticism of Federal Vision theology: "In this religion you become one of God’s people through baptism performed by a priest, and you remain one of God’s people by the participation of weekly sacramental rites offered by a priest. In addition, it is important to have covenant renewal services in which a priest mediates for you, praying on behalf of the congregation to God. You depend on the priests to become saved and you stay saved through their rituals. If they withhold the rituals you are cut off. Thus, sanctification, at its core, is sucking up to the clergy so you can keep getting the sacraments… The operative meaning of ‘good’ seems to be submission to clergy." Kinists are terrible at sucking-up.

By the way, all debates over postmillennialism, Federal Vision theology, postmodernism, supralapsarianism, etc., will only last about 40 more years. After that, the White race will be nearly extinct, and Whites are the only ones who care to debate such things. I’m pretty sure T.D. Jakes has no intention of reading Norman Shepherd or allowing N.T. Wright to speak at his "church." So, you see? Problem solved.

Brian Abshire wrote a good article called "The Christian Mafia," which is must-reading for anyone interested in the "Hell’s Angels" view of submission to clergy. Unfortunately, Abshire also said that the "only cultural difference…between white Europeans and black Africans is 1500 years of Christian history. Two thousand years ago, the English were naked savages, living in mud huts, painting their buttocks blue and eating one another. It was Christianity that made the difference, not skin pigment or eye color." Is Abshire correct? Let’s hear from the Roman historian Tacitus on the Germanic tribes. Keep in mind that he is a White pagan writing about White pagans. When you finish reading, ask yourself if your lying pastor is correct when he says that Whites would act just like Negroes if not for Christianity.

As we all know, individual liberty is frowned upon in the Orient. They can be excused for not realizing that equality is not a "Western concept." Only on the Internet does the truth filter through the Jewish barricades. John Randolph of Roanoke said liberty and equality are inversely proportional, and you won’t hear that from Bill O’Reilly.

My barber cracks me up. Sometimes I giggle so ferociously that he has trouble cutting straight and I walk out of there looking like Gene Wilder. He says he’ll never go back to Orlando, which is half-Black. One who hopes that the new president of South Africa will kill White men and enslave White women. "But as part of sorting out ungrateful white people, I want Zuma to embark on a redistribution exercise. I want him to distribute white women among the long-suffering black chaps in South Africa. He must first choose which white woman he wants. He can even have two. That done, he must then distribute to his loyal supporters. And if there is a surplus, he should distribute to his supporters in tiny neighboring states. I am one of his supporters. I look forward to the reign of President Jacob Zuma."

Well-educated Whites are more likely to be segregationists.

Hear what Rushdoony calls "insanity in the name of Christ." Seconds later, he says the United Nations is determined to transfer populations and break down nationalities in the old Assyrian and Babylonian style. This entails bringing colored people from around the globe to live here among us, with the goal of destroying us.

Rush also pointed out in the same lecture that the end of the old order in Europe was World War I. (It came a bit sooner here in the States, under Lincoln.) He said one of the primary objectives of the Freemasons (meaning Jews and other Unitarians) was to destroy the Austro-Hungarian empire, because that was the last remaining feudal system on earth. Feudalism is a form of confederate government with a very limited monarch and fiefdoms overseen by lords. In the Holy Roman Empire, there was even an electoral college to determine the emperor. How republican of them! The theocratic feudalism that was the old order was overturned by Christ-haters to be replaced by the New World Order. Many true conservatives of the 21st century are doing what they can to revive agrarian folkways. This gives them a connection, however slight, to their medieval forebears. And this is nothing new. Even states’ rights were an attempt to salvage the liberty that once existed under feudalism. Totalitarianism was unknown to lords and vassals.

Rushdoony writes, "To the colonists, as to the barons who wrested Magna Carta from King John, English liberty meant feudalism in essence, localism as against centralism, contractual government as against absolutism… Each colony was a free English state under the king, and their relationship to him was feudal and contractual." Likewise for the American founding: "Limited government and constitutionalism were basic aspects of colonial faith and life, and common pulpit themes… The American political system, thus, is, first, a development of Christian feudalism." (Thanks to Jacob Aitken for these quotes. I also appreciate Jacob’s description of the Southern Confederacy as "an unrefined theocracy.")

Still, we know that guarding against the excesses of feudalism was of great concern to our founding fathers, especially John Adams. John Taylor of Caroline dismissed his concerns, saying that no feudal aristocracy could arise in America because land was too plentiful. Instead, Taylor feared an aristocracy of credit and paper-money, and wisely so, for usury and national banks have been weapons of mass destruction. Taylor knew that the exploitation that existed under feudalism was as nothing compared to exploitation through inflated paper, bank stocks, and protective tariffs. He was a prophet. We know today that faith in our leaders and a sense of national integrity depend not on virtue, honor, and godliness but on Sacred Credit and force of arms. "No form of government can foster a fanaticism for wealth without being corrupted," said Taylor.

As I said, the Austro-Hungarian empire was the last remaining feudal system on earth. By 1916, the Germans, Austrians, and Ottomans had seemingly won the war against England, France, and Russia. The tide turned when Chaim Weizmann, who would become the first president of the state of Israel, struck a deal with the English. If the Zionists could drag the United States into the war, their reward would be Palestine. The deal was sweetened by the knowledge that many Jews would leave Europe as a result. Jews Weizmann, Brandeis, and Baruch convinced Woodrow Wilson to enter the war, using the Lusitania as the excuse. The Germans were depicted as bloodthirsty "Huns." The Austro-Hungarian empire collapsed, and the Balfour Declaration, giving Palestine to the Jews, was issued in November of 1917. But actually, it had been written 20 months earlier. Benjamin Freedman, a prominent Zionist, said that Wilson was blackmailed with disclosure of an extramarital affair. The states of Iraq and Kuwait were created arbitrarily by the conquerors. Iraq always considered Kuwait its southern province, which is why Saddam Hussein invaded it. (Hussein was executed today.)

Recall that Karl Marx had railed against both feudalism and capitalism. Woodrow Wilson’s face was on the flip side of the New World Order’s coin. Wilson and Lenin were not that different after all. Since it was Lincoln who gave Wilson his power, it is not surprising that Wilson’s idea of "self-determination" did not extend to the Austro-Hungarian empire, just as Lincoln’s idea of "government of the people, by the people, for the people" did not extend to the South. And when that empire fell, Europe fell with it. This explains why we don’t get as worked up about Hitler as most folks these days. We know that there would have been no Hitler without American intervention in World War I, and there would have been no American intervention in World War I had it not been for Jewish interference (and more than likely, blackmail).

John Smith, the great pioneer of Virginia, was for a time in the service of the Habsburgs in their struggle against the Turks. What does this tell us, despite the fact that blacks can use words like ‘cracker’ and ‘honky’? I won’t be thrown off the set if I use those words. They can use those words like that with impunity? What does that say, really, about the racial power relationship in the United States?… I think the notion that whites somehow benefit from white skin privilege because of the presence of non-whites is crazy. That suggests, if non-whites suddenly disappeared, whites would be shooting themselves because they couldn’t enjoy this privilege anymore."

I for one am outraged that a seminary professor and World Magazine journalist has used The Nigger Word. The utterance of that word is demeaning to every African-American in this country, and it treats their struggle for freedom and equality under the law as profane. That’s why I never let it escape my lips unless I know a good nigger joke.

While I am not fully comfortable with Kinism, I admit that its roots have been the norm throughout Western history. Recently I have been studying the life and thought of Abraham Kuyper. Kuyper longed for the revival of an explicitly and specifically Dutch volk. While he ultimately compromised his ideal with notions of “pluralism,” it is interesting to note that he was simultaneously interested in a thoroughly “Dutch” Dutch society. Consider the following from a leading Kuyper interpreter:

Kuyper’s appeal to the conscience of the nation…has direct parallels to contemporary American conservative Christian political analysts who insist that liberty and genuine diversity can only exist by staying true to a national mythology… Though freedom of conscience requires that no one be coerced to act contrary to his or her convictions…the government acts in a self-destructive manner when, in the name of diversity and pluralism or multiculturalism, it actively promotes religious beliefs or ideologies that have as their basic premise the denial of free, public exercise.

John Bolt, A Free Church, A Holy Nation, p. 346 

Of course, John Bolt, a pluralist, wants to leave the door open as to which religions are part of “that nation’s heritage.” Historically, it can only be reformed Christian theism that saves the day. But it is interesting, as the whole book points out, that Kuyper sought: 1) A Dutch national mythology for the sake of a 2) Unified Dutch people… Of course, the Netherlands rapidly departed from Kuyper. Kuyper’s worldview could not last. He advocated both the Kingship of Christ (good) and “common-grace” (bad). Common grace won the day and now look at the Netherlands.

College professors will soon be color-coded and assessed on "cultural competency." It sure does take a lot of work and layers of bureaucracy to enforce the religion of Equality, doesn’t it?

Like some other litigious pastors we’ve mentioned, Hank Hanegraaff is now suing left and right, as though 1 Corinthians 6 doesn’t exist. But that’s okay, because he’s The Bible Answer Man. Someone posted this comment: "Wow, first Ligoneir [sic] now the Bible Answer Man? I can’t keep up with all these preachers who ignore biblical teachings."

You can’t turn left in northern Virginia without bumping into an Episcopalian. Many Episcopalians these days would rather be ruled by Negroes than fags. Apparently, leaving an apostate church is not an option for them. "’The votes today have compromised these discussions and have created Nigerian congregations occupying Episcopal churches. This is not the future of the Episcopal Church envisioned by our forebears.’ He said the meeting Monday will ‘consider the full range of pastoral, canonical and legal obligations of the church and our responsibilities to those faithful Episcopalians in these congregations who do not choose to associate with the Church of Nigeria.’" The racists!

"A June 2006 Barna Report says that in a typical week, 9 percent of U.S. adults attend house churches – up from one percent in 1996 – and that 70 million U.S. adults have had some experience with a house church."

This is the point at which I bore my readers by discussing theology. What follows is of interest to me, but I admit that it pales in significance to the more immediate trouble we face as a nation. Dishonest Doug Wilson linked to the audio of the examination of Steve Wilkins by his PCA presbytery. The significance of this event is that Wilkins is the only major proponent of Federal Vision theology that belongs to the organization that grew out of the old Southern Presbyterian Church. Though Wilkins is confused on race issues, he has been an asset to the South, and I have great admiration for him. He has already been condemned as a heretic by one presbytery, and it is unclear how his own presbytery or the PCA will rule.

I’ve believed for a long time that confusion will continue to swirl around FV theology until everyone can arrive at an understanding of how terms should be defined. If you listen to the audio, you’ll find that the most common criticism is that Wilkins is confusing and uses words in a different sense or a different context than they are commonly understood. His qualification of words seldom does much good. You will witness that even very well-educated, seminary-trained men who have studied the Bible and the Westminster Confession of Faith for years have great difficulty in understanding exactly what FV theology means. I’m not sure I understand it either, but I sympathize with much of what Wilkins says, especially when he points out that the WCF calls the children of believers Christians from the womb. Baptism is how those children become members of the church, and they are made eligible for membership because of their birth.

One of the questioners surprised me by denying that baptism confers grace. He said it was his understanding that baptism unites us to the church but faith unites us to Christ. I’m glad someone showed him that even he is not in accord with the confession on that point. The WCF calls baptism a "saving grace," and the Larger Catechism refers to the "grace of baptism." Again, this can be confusing, but Wilkins defines grace as favor. It is not the same as mercy. And in that sense (three words which he is chastised for using so frequently), the reprobate do partake of grace when they belong to the church.

But here’s where it gets dicey. According to Wilkins, those who fall away are granted "temporary faith" for a time, which is not the same thing as persevering faith. He even goes so far as to say that this temporary faith is real faith because no man can call Jesus Lord except by the Spirit. This leads to the reprobate experiencing a "quasi-salvation." It seems to me that he’s on very shaky ground here. But consider what the Scriptures say about the reprobate denying the master who bought them, and that Israel was a redeemed people, all of whom were baptized into Moses. Wilkins himself uses arresting metaphors to prove his point, such as that an unfaithful husband cannot be both unfaithful and not a husband. There are also the parables of the branches of the grapevine and olive tree being cut off. Another example that occurred to me, though I don’t know if anyone else has considered it, is the hand that is cut off for causing offense. No one could deny that the hand experienced for a time a vital union with the body, yet it was not destined to persevere. When Wilkins said that pereverance is synergistic, yet always a gift, he found agreement in the room.

But I think he was at his weakest when he argued that there is not an "invisible" church now except in the mind of God. He said the invisible church will not exist until all the elect are gathered in heaven. He was told that this contradicts the present communion of the elect.

In short, it’s a very complicated matter, and it’s made all the more confusing because everyone is looking to the WCF to be the final authority on how words are defined, even though the WCF does not actually define words like regeneration. It will be interesting to see whether Wilkins is officially labeled a heretic. Terms such as "temporary faith" and "quasi-salvation" are disturbing. Likewise, Wilson refers to temporal regeneration, which Mark Horne defines as different from ordinary regeneration in duration. Quite disturbing, but I would hate to see this decided as the result of miscommunication.

Dishonest Doug Wilson is lobbying against any decisions being made by the good-old-boys in smoke-filled rooms, and I agree with him. But the reason I agree with him is that I’m consistent, and he is not. As Kevin Johnson points out, Wilson loves scrutiny of everyone’s actions but his own. "I remember Wilson arguing all day long about how [the RC Sproul Jr scandal] was a matter that didn’t need the scrutiny of the public Christian eye and to bring it to light publicly only further scandalized the matter… More Idahoan hypocrisy at work. Plain and simple. I challenge Wilson to bring the light of day to his own affairs in Moscow and around the country as he works at Christ Church, in and among the CREC, and elsewhere before he calls others on the carpet for the very same thing." Kevin is absolutely correct that, these days, "getting a fair ecclesiastical trial is like thinking the lottery is a wise investment vehicle for your entire paycheck." He is also correct that Wilson is the poster boy for the failures of fractured Protestant denominationalism, seeing as how his so-called presbyterian church has "never handled anything like this before, and operat[es] with the sort of scant by-laws and constitution that only encourage ministerial irresponsibility and the worst sort of cronyism. The CREC cannot pretend that she is the final court of appeal on this and other matters but these things must also be handled appropriately in the public square within the context of the Church at large." Not that this is surprising when we recall that Wilson’s cult-of-personality was formed by mutiny against his baptist elders. I guess the end justifies the means, huh? Ministerial irresponsibility and cronyism are never surprising among unordained and unaccountable peddlers of justice and honor. I also appreciate Johnson’s reminder that the Apostle Paul exhorts the local church, not her elders, to discipline the man committing incest in 1 Cor 5. Just think of what this means.

David McCrory noticed something I hadn’t: that Wilkins once affirmed that all the benefits of Christ are imputed to the baptized person, regardless of decretal status, yet now he says only some benefits are conferred. That appears to be a change for the better.

Look at all the free seminary courses offered here. They mostly look good, but here’s one on Black churches. It’s unintentionally funny in a few places, such as when the professor says George Whitefield is not a hero today because he supported slavery. We also learn that Blacks had secret places where they could shout, and whenever they were able they left the White churches and formed their own "emergent" churches. How racist and exclusivist. Still, we need to be forgiving because the Most Reverend Doctor King had not yet been born. Blacks "wanted to have their own pastors and their own churches and go their own way." The reason I know this must be racist is because I’ve been called a racist many times for desiring the same thing, and as we all know, pastors are far too logical to fall for double standards.

(I’m not being critical of either homeschoolers or the DeRosa family. This is a matter of falsehood and essentially plagiarism.) "They are boys who must bring ever-higher ethical standards to their field of work and not yield to the lure of lucre or compromise on the ground of philosophical expediency. (This is crucial: Sadly, creationism — like everything else out there in this fallen world — has its fair share of hucksters and charlatans more interested in making a buck through sensationalism, than advancing the kingdom of God.)" I was asked if I know of any quotes of Tolkien’s views on ethnocentrism and the supremacy of Northern European culture. Not specifically, but all of his writing points in that direction. He’s always calling the beautiful women and elves “fair” and the easily-controlled southern peoples “swarthy.” He puts different aspects of the traits of White people in his Western races. Thus Hobbits are English farmers who never miss tea, and who have their own genteel class; dwarves are like Welsh miners; elves are nobility, etc. There are only four cases of racial intermarriage in all of his works, and each of them is fraught with sorrow. The Aragorn/Arwen union is almost identical to the Beren/Luthien union in The Silmarillion. In fact, Aragorn wears the same ring that Beren wore when he cut a Silmaril from the crown of the devil (Morgoth). But the point is that until the world ends, songs of lamentation are sung for Luthien because she was lost forever to the elves, having chosen mortality. Likewise, Arwen dies alone in the cold, having missed the last ship to Valinor. So it works for the purpose of a fable, but it’s clear that racial intermarriage is viewed as dreadfully sorrowful. And yet there is great cooperation and friendship among the Western races, as long as their boundaries are respected, and as long as they are not driven by lust for a Silmaril or a Ring or a dragon’s horde. Such a masterpiece could not be written today because it would instantly be denounced as racist, and it could never be written at any time except by a Christian. The Christian faith, as Rushdoony said, is antithetical to the "undifferentiated and shoreless ocean of being."

Another thing that only anti-Semites are supposed to discuss is the fact that Israel is not among the 152 countries that have ratified the 1997 Ottawa pact banning the use, stockpiling, production, and transfer of anti-personnel landmines. It should come as no surprise to anti-Semites that Jews recently planted landmines in Lebanon.

I can’t believe that the Michael Richards nigger rant is still all over the news. And in every single roundtable convened on TV or radio, Blacks are tasked with explaining why it is perfectly natural for them to call themselves "the n-word" but no one else can. What other word is like this? It turns the very concept of language on its head. Words convey universal meaning, and there is no elite caste that has exclusive use of any word. My wife and I were watching the DVD of the TV show "Black.White," which was all about Blacks wearing white makeup to appear White (they still looked Black) and Whites wearing black makeup to appear Black. The most interesting thing about that show is the confirmation that even successful and intelligent and well-mannered Blacks never cease making excuses for the rapper and gangster class. This is why, despite individual exceptions, Black society has never been able to rise far above the animalistic. You’ll find some of the highest-class Blacks you’ll ever meet in Washington, D.C., and who do they elect as their mayor? Marion Berry. But I digress. In that show, the White couple puts on blackface and goes to a Black comedy club, where they hear the word "nigger" all night long. On the way home, the White man says he can’t believe how often Blacks call each other "niggers," and his wife got so angry that he said the word "nigger" rather than "the n-word" that she later considers divorcing him for his insensitivity. The funniest part of it is that the word is bleeped out but it can still be read in the captions. (I expected them to put something like "#%!@" in the captions.)

In no less than Esquire Magazine, the word "nigger" is used freely. But according to Esquire, only low-class Blacks are niggers. Chris Rock agrees: "I love Black people but I hate niggers." Samuel L. Jackson admits openly, "I’m a nigger," meaning not that he is low-class but that he is someone to be reckoned with. Damon Wayans used the word 16 times in a recent act, saying, "I’ll be damned if the White man uses that word last." John Singleton admits that he’s hypocritical for using the term liberally but being offended when someone White uses it. In recent days, I’ve heard quite a few Blacks excuse this double standard because of the "psychological trauma" of the "Black experience" in America. There’s not a group of people on earth whose ancestors were not deprived or abused in some way. Millions of White Europeans were captured and enslaved. It doesn’t affect us. But humility doesn’t come easily to Negroes. When they feel that they are being disrespected, they lash out. Yet for many millions of White young people, being and acting Black is considered cool. So why are Blacks still so angry? The answer is partly found in competition. With few exceptions, Blacks are unable to compete with Whites and Orientals unless the rules are rigged in their favor. They understand how dishonest this is, and it makes them all the more angry. So more than any other race, they cling to the perceived deprivations of the past to explain the deficiencies of the present, and they invent bizarre rules governing language on the authority of their status of Perpetually Downtrodden. We don’t have any use for senseless rules, and there seems to be no shortage of them. For instance, the weird-looking mulatto Malcolm Gladwell intones gravely, "To call someone a nigger is not as a bad as arguing that black people have lower intelligence than whites." Science must be pretty bad then. Even in the new documentary, The N Word, darkies admit that words are just words - the real problem with the word "nigger" is that it implies support for slavery. The Bible must be pretty bad then.

The freakish Gladwell also believes that "it’s worse for someone to say that Jews are money-grubbers than it is to make a joke about how Orthodox Jews have large families. The first statement is groundless, and the second is at least statistically defensible." I read somewhere that Gladwell is the highest-paid journalist in the country, which is further evidence that the world has been turned upside down.

Schools are now beginning to give up on SAT scores altogether, because the blankety-blank test refuses to play along with the fairy tale of racial equality.

More alarming revelations about Doug Phillips. It’s not unusual for people to fight over politics, but if you want to belong to Doug’s pet church, you had probably better support the Constitution Party.

When the first part of the story came out, Phillips wrote a public letter to himself (from Vision Forum to BCA) saying that this matter is the jurisdiction of the church, not of Vision Forum, which is a business. But now we learn that the Vision Forum office was the location of the counseling sessions. It is also alleged that Don Hart, who is on the Vision Forum Ministries board of directors, has been circulating petitions which denounce the excommunicated family. What business does a VF board member have in defending Dapper Doug against a purely pastoral concern, unless it is to head off criticism of VF’s involvement in the "discipline" process? It seems that the line between ministry and business is being blurred, as was also true for RC Sproul Jr.

We’ve commented many times about Doug Phillips’s warmongering. The man never heard of a war that he did not call heroic, and we’ve questioned how Christian children are to understand the truth about America’s imperial aggression, which is taking place even now, if Doug Phillips is trying to whip them into a "patriotic" fever by waving flags in their faces. That’s partly why this story is so interesting. Mark Epstein was a soldier involved in combat, and like many other soldiers, he brought that aggression into his home. There’s nothing unusual about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, but it certainly is unusual for a pastor to overlook it when dealing with a family’s domestic issues. Doug’s philosophy appears to be: "The husband is angry, so it must be the wife’s fault." I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a pastor telling a woman to not "ever question, contradict, criticize, correct, or end-run any communication or decision by Mark to Mark or anyone else."

The story has raised some interesting and important questions. Does a church elder, whose biblical authority is well-defined and limited, have the right to enforce the rule that a woman should not vote or disagree politically with her husband? Must a woman be utterly silent in church? Does a woman have the right to criticize her elders, even privately, and even with her husband’s agreement? Are problems in a marriage almost always the fault of the woman? When a wife is excommunicated, are vague and subjective allusions to her failure to be submissive ("lack of love") sufficient grounds?

It’s also very interesting that just before Phillips refers to "Excommunication with Due Process" on the BCA website, he mentions "the biblical requirements pertaining to those under church discipline." But those biblical requirements were easily waived when it came to his friend RC Sproul Jr. Far from shunning Junior as he did the Epsteins, Phillips teamed up with Junior earlier this year for a conference on (get this) honor.

It had never entered my mind, ‘Why am I not dating a coloured girl?’ Never once did I query within myself, ‘Are there any Mexicans in this neighbourhood?’ I never pondered the question, ‘Why don’t I listen to rap?’… The truth is we are all prejudiced. We love our children more than the children of others. We love our cousins more than the cousins of others. Don’t try to say this is not prejudice. The bottom line is that nearness brings connection. The nearer someone is to you the greater the bond – the greater the love… If our hearts did not have the capacity to discriminate then we would mechanically love all people the same. A total stranger would have the same affection as your only daughter." And that would be hatred.

Hillbillies, rednecks, crackers, and gringos. It is also said that the word "gringo" originated from the first two words of this Robert Burns poem, which was chanted by marching soldiers during the Spanish-American War. Mexicans heard it often but couldn’t understand what it meant.

Did you know that the Union Jack was imposed by the Normans? For four centuries prior to this, the flag of England was the White Dragon, which was the emblem of Hengest and Horsa, the founders of England. But George and the Dragon is the most well-recognized British symbol. The story of George and the Dragon was recalled in the fight between Christian and Apollyon in Pilgrim’s Progress. Yet according to Edmund Gibbon, St. George was originally George of Cappadocia, the Arian opponent of St. Athanasius - which would make the dragon Athanasius. George had become wealthy by supplying bacon to the Roman army. When his opponent Athanasius was driven into exile, George became Bishop of Alexandria. Gibbon writes, "Every moment of his reign was polluted by cruelty and avarice. The Catholics of Alexandria and Egypt were abandoned to a tyrant, qualified, by nature and education, to exercise the office of persecution." When Julian became emperor, a mob killed George and dumped his body in the sea. Thus began the Roman Catholic Church’s elevation of George to martyrdom at the hands of pagans. Others say that George was martyred by Emperor Diocletian, and the witness of his suffering convinced Athanasius and others to convert. If the former story is true, it is quite unfortunate, since we refuse to recognize a Christianity that is not also Athanasian. Rushdoony called the Athanasian Creed "the great creed." (It’s a good idea to regularly have your children read it aloud, if you don’t want them to become cultists.) It’s unfortunate that the Eastern Orthodox churches rejected this creed along with the Council of Chalcedon. Rushdoony named his organization after Chalcedon, which he said did no less than begin Western civilization. He stood opposed to the "one nature" position of monophysitism, from which a multitude of heresies (and evangelical churches) spring. Like Rushdoony, we stand with Athanasius, contra mundum.

"You’re fired!" "On November 28 Don Kistler was informed of his immediate termination. No severance package of any kind was offered, and his health insurance has been cancelled." If you’ve kept up with the story, you know that Frank Vance was sued by RC Sproul for making it known that witnesses had alleged fraud on the part of Lie-gonier Ministries. Sproul had hired Kistler in order to take over his successful ministry, and this was the subject of the alleged fraud. Witnesses told Vance that a crucial clause in the contract allowing Kistler to resume his ministry if he chose to do so was removed at the last minute. Kistler then suffered a stroke and, possibly for fear of his future, denounced the allegations. All of this was done very mysteriously, as Frank Vance has documented. Recent events have transpired as predicted, and we’re quite sure that Don Kistler must be in agony now for not speaking the truth when he had much to lose. The trouble with telling the truth now is that it will show that he loved money more than honor, but it’s still better than the alternative. The excuse offered for his firing is that he set up his own website, but it’s a very convenient excuse. Now Sproul controls the lucrative Soli Deo Gloria Ministries, and Don Kistler will have to look for another way to pay his medical bills. Judgment is nigh, RC Sproul, and may it come swiftly. Your lawyers won’t be able to save you.

Ministry Watchman is doing excellent work. The latest piece focuses on Dapper Doug Phillips, who is revealed to be a legalist and a misogynist. How would you women like to visit the "It’s All About Doug" church and be forbidden to introduce your own father or request prayer, since women aren’t allowed to speak in The Church of Doug? No writing notes either, and careful with the expressive eye movements! In fact, you ladies should wear burkas, because a submissive wife is a wife that can be neither seen nor heard. It also helps to have Hispanic housekeeping assistance. As Bad says, "Having two domestic servants leaves a lot of time to sit around reading Titus 2." Be sure to read about the angel-eggs at the weekly pot-providence meal.

It seems that the Church of Doug, Boerne Christian Assembly, registered a website days ago, on November 28, to respond to this matter. The Church of Doug (so called because for most of its history Doug Phillips was the sole "elder") contends that the couple in question was "biblically and lovingly disciplined for gross, unrepentant sin" including "violent railings, vicious accusations, cruelty and threats on their part directed at each other, other women at BCA, the families coming alongside of them in counsel and prayer, and the church leadership." Keep in mind that the word "leadership" is a nebulous term. If they had a plurality of elders, they would have said "elders." As expected, not a single Ministry Watchman allegation is contradicted with actual proof, even though the Church of Doug insists that the article is "rife with pure fabrications, dangerous half-truths, malicious innuendo, and vicious personal attacks." Also as expected, a lawsuit is threatened by Douglas Phillips, Esquire. Stay tuned to Ministry Watchman for further revelations.

How ironic that Dapper Doug has made a small fortune selling all things "honorable," including the books of dead "racists." One comment posted under the story: "As the wife of a hispanic I’ve often been a bit uncomfortable with the ethnocentric contents of Vision Forum’s products." David Bayly groans about the Tunnel Vision Forum catalog depicting a "rosy-cheeked, all-American boy looming in front of the Alamo." Likewise, after comparing Phillips to Hitler, Michael Metzler grouses about "American apple pie served by white girls in pretty fluffy dresses." The good news is that Phillips has inspired Badonicus to start a non-profit outreach ministry to wiggers. When I say "outreach," I mean beating them up, but that’s neither here nor there. He’s hoping to begin construction on his own indoor pool, so get ready to send in your donations.

Kevin Swanson’s clerical vestments are in a twist because the truth is being publicized about his friends. This sort of thing could negatively affect his speaking engagements. "Upon perusing the content [at Ministry Watchman, the website whose name must not be uttered] (which goes on for volumes on end), I could only cringe with embarrassment that such information is made public to a watching world." Notice that the truth of the matter is not the issue for Kevin, but only that it is made public. It goes without saying that Swanson has nothing bad to say about Lie-gonier’s unbiblical lawsuit. Here are the words Kevin uses about Ministry Watchman: yellow-bellied, infantile, irresponsible, slanderous, nasty, silly, like two year olds kicking sand into each other’s faces in the sandbox, rabble rousers, negative, character assassination, wounded ego, envy, on-line slander ministries, rotten little boys and girls who found that special delight in kicking everybody’s sand castles to smithereens. Dapper Doug linked to Swanson’s post and added the word "cancer" to the vocabulary list. Just like Swanson, he refuses to mention Ministry Watchman by name, because then people would go there and see that none of the adjectives apply. But Swanson was just getting started! He also made "Yellow-Bellied Blogging" the subject of his latest radio show, and this allowed him to use even more words: "saying mean things, attack, ad hominem, less than honorable, legalistic, corrupt, envious, embarrassing, gossip, gripes, whines, complaints, casting aspersions. Best of all, Bad and I get special mention on the radio: "some of the bloggers are upset over interracial marriage." That’s an understatement, brother. This isn’t the first time that Swanson has valued personal friendships over honor. Unlike Suck-Up Kevin, who dishonorably neglects to mention his financial conflict of interest in the matter, we believe that sunlight is the best disinfectant.

The interesting thing is that Phillips calls his accusers "anonymous," but who ever heard of "anonymous" critics being so precise with what they disclose while the "accountable" pastors hide and obfuscate and present no substantiation whatsoever? Kind of reminds you of Deep Throat during the Watergate scandal, doesn’t it? For instance, since Doug Phillips is a lawyer, he understands the concept of due process. The statement posted by his pet church specifically refers to "Excommunication With Due Process." But how will it look for them if Ministry Watchman proves in the next few days that due process was not followed; that the family in question was excommunicated without a trial; that all existing documentation supports the family’s case? Then we’ll know why due process is such a pain in the neck for tyrants. It’s so hard to convene an honest kangaroo court these days.

I still want to know where in the Bible it says that Christians may sue non-Christians for any matter whatsoever. This is the official position of the Church of Doug and of the Fraternal Order of Litigious Christians. As we’ve mentioned previously, Doug’s hero John Gill denied it. I’m eager for a Bible lesson if someone would like to volunteer.

Pope Benedict XVI "desires Turkey’s membership in the EU," according to an official statement from the Vatican. As Lawrence Auster recently mentioned, this is in line with "the Vatican II document Nostra Aetate which embraces Muslims as fellow ‘adorers of the one God,’ which Benedict fully endorses…" You can call this whatever you like, and use big, florid words to describe it, but you can’t call it Christian. God only loves those for whom He died, which means that He hates most people alive today. We have J. Gresham Machen and many others before him to thank for the fact that we know the difference. Machen wrote: "The modern liberal doctrine is that all men everywhere, no matter what their race or creed, are brothers… [L]iberalism is not Christianity. [Neither are other Unitarian faiths such as Islam.] And that being the case, it is highly undesirable that liberalism and Christianity should continue to be propagated within the bounds of the same organization. A separation between the two parties in the Church is the crying need of the hour… The plain fact is that liberalism, whether it be true or false, is no mere ‘heresy’ - no mere divergence at isolated points from Christian teaching. On the contrary, it proceeds from a totally different root, and it constitutes, in essentials, a unitary system of its own.
