RoboCupJunior Australia impresses Australian Prime Minister

On March 30th, 2001, Mr. John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia witnessed the innovation of Australian students first hand on the 30th of March when he opened the Cube 37 centre in Frankston.

Mr. Howard took time out in his busy schedule to chat to students about their creation in Dance and Rescue as well as being fascinated by the technology exhibited in Soccer. With his popularity being in the balance at the time, Mr. Howard warmed to the dancing robot created by Nicolas Bebbington, Shiva as it performed to "Staying Alive".

He congratulated the students and teachers who had helped initiate the educational competition that now is being played in all states of Australia and have over 200 RoboCup Junior Soccer teams competing in August.
