KING FIRST TO UNALAKLEET
EARNS WELLS FARGO BANK ALASKA GOLD COAST AWARD!!!
NOME, ALASKA -March 11, 2007 - Four time Iditarod Champion Jeff King is
the first to arrive at the Gold Coast community of Unalakleet. King (Bib # 31)
arrived in Unalakleet this afternoon at 3:35 (March 11, 2007) with 12 dogs.
The distinction of being the first to make it to the Norton Sound netted King the Wells Fargo "Gold Coast" Award. This is the second year in a row that King has won the Wells Fargo "Gold Coast" Award!
Carol Charles, Wells Fargo Community Representative for Unalakleet, was on hand to present King with $2,500 in gold as well as the "Gold Coast" Award.
Unalakleet is strategically located on the coast of Norton Sound, just
north of the Unalakleet River. Only 261 miles of trail lie between King and the
Burled Arch of Nome.
The award will be re-presented to King in Nome on Sunday, March 18th,
during the Iditarod Awards Banquet.
