West Island Line & South Island Line

Introduction

Following the Government’s decision to proceed with detailed planning and preparations for the West Island Line in June 2005, the Corporation soon after commenced the preliminary design for the project. On 31 August 2006, the Corporation submitted an updated proposal for West Island Line to the Government, setting out the detailed scope, cost and implementation programme for the project.

In June 2005, the Government decided that the South Island Line would be reviewed in the light of the results of the overall planning review of the tourism and commercial development in the Southern District and the Ocean Park redevelopment. The Corporation will continue to work closely with the Government to pursue South Island Line (East) as soon as the Government review is complete and to proceed with South Island Line (West) at a later stage.
