First World War diaries
The Australian Light Horse unit war diaries from the First World War have been digitally scanned in full colour and are available online. This marks the start of a project to digitise all of the archival series AWM4 Australian Imperial Force unit war diaries, 1914-18 War. As other diaries are completed they will be progressively added to the website.
George Lambert: Gallipoli and Palestine landscapes
This exhibition traces Lambert’s
work through his first journey to Palestine and the Sinai in 1918 and the
Australian Historical Mission to Gallipoli in 1919. It includes paintings
described by Charles Bean as “brilliant little flashes, vivid with
George Lambert: Gallipoli and Palestine landscapes will be on display in the Special Exhibitions Gallery from 30 March 2007 to 29 July 2007, and then begin its extensive Australian tour.
Lawrence of Arabia and the Light Horse
This is the Memorial's first blog. It is focussed on our summer exhibition for 2007-08 which will feature Lawrence of Arabia and his actions in assisting the Arab Revolt in 1916-18 and the operations of the Light Horse and other Australians in Palestine at the same time.
