Why upgrade your hard drive?

Hard Drives

Upgrading your hard drive’s overall storage capacity allows for installation and saving of more information including:

Add a second hard drive for an even higher level of storage capacities.

Upgrading your hard drive’s RPM speed allows for faster data transfer between the information stored on the hard drive and the time it is displayed on your display.

RAID 0 and RAID 1

For users seeking the highest levels of hard drive performance and security, Alienware offers Serial ATA RAID 0 and RAID 1 configurations.

RAID 0, or "striping," distributes data between the two identical hard drives to enable enhanced system performance. In addition to increased performance, RAID 0 combines two hard drives sequentially, which doubles total available storage space. Suitable for situations in which drive performance and capacity are crucial, RAID 0 is the perfect solution.

RAID 1, or “mirroring,” stores data in parallel between two identical hard drives to provide data security - often referred to as “fault-tolerance.” Should one drive fail, the second drive takes over, allowing the system to function as it did before the failure. When high-performance with redundancy is a must, RAID 1 is the perfect solution.
