Beijing Next Fashion Capital...

The China National Federation of Textile Industry and the Municipal Government of Beijing are trying to turn the Chinese capital into the fashion center of the same level as Paris, New York, London or Tokyo. The local authorities are setting up new centers for fashion design, exhibition, PR, garment production and world top brands, according to the architecture plans revealed on Wednesday.

The huge 8-hectare fashion center will be located in southern Beijing at Yizhuang of Daxing District. The construction of the center is expected to be finished in May and the center itself is to be opened in one year.

The city will also organize funds raising to open the garment centers in other counties such as Pinggu, Miyun, Shunyi and Yanqing.

The New China International Exhibition Center is expected to open in 2006. Construction on the Beijing International Light Textile Trading Center will begin soon.
