Destroyed Denim

Forbidden's Destroyed Denim

This fashion story starts with no pretense, only a bit of attitude and a lot of rebellious flair. Christine Dolce, founder of Destroyed Denim and a MySpace icon, says her foray into fashion all began with “a chick figuring out a cool way to mess up an old pair of denim.”

Dolce gained international attention through her MySpace profile; to the 53-million-member-strong online community, the jeans-thrashing blonde is known as “Forbidden.” Taking note of the profile that receives over 800,000 hits a day, Vanity Fair crowned Dolce “the queen of MySpace.”

Aside from reigning over cyberspace and designing her own line of rocker-chic gear, Dolce passes her time modeling, working as a makeup artist and pledging allegiance to her favorite things: “hot tattoos and fallen angels, eyeliner on boys and things that are black.” (Naturally, Christine considers Angelina her celebrity soul mate.)

To check out destroyed denim, log onto Shop.destroyeddenim.com. Shoppers can either send Christine jeans or have the company supply a pair, then the denim is at the mercy of ripping, splattering and all-around delicious destruction, although the specific recipe for trashing is secret: “We use bleach and tools to mess them up, that’s all we can say!” Dolce demurs. The site also vends gothic-glam tees, tanks and hoodies as well as trucker hats for men and women.

Christine Dolce, aka Forbidden, will be appearing at Vision nightclub (located at 632 North Dearborn) in Chicago on Friday, May 19th. Enjoy complimentary drinks from 10-11 pm. For a $10 cover charge, you'll see Forbidden modeling her provocative new clothing line, Destroyed Denim.
