Today’s unprecedented increases in medical knowledge, new ophthalmic therapies, and the speed by which information technology such as the Internet allow this information to be processed, have limited the time ophthalmologists have for continuing education, maintaining competencies, running practices and caring for patients.  Maintenance of Certification will increase the need for effective and efficient education in the future.

To help meet these increasing demands, the Academy continues to introduce and enhance products and services into easy-to-use, state-of-the-art formats.   Maintaining our Academy’s high standards of excellence is costly.  As a greater portion of our dues must be directed towards reimbursement and scope of practice advocacy efforts, additional support of the Academy’s educational mission is necessary.

Gifts to The Academy Education Fund are used to expand the Academy’s ophthalmic knowledge base and create the clinically relevant, easy-to-use educational resources necessary for us to provide better care for our patients.
