Vallelunga day two - Honda head Williams
Jenson Button (GBR) Honda RA106.
Formula One World Championship, Rd 5, European Grand Prix, Practice Day, Nurburgring, Germany, 5 May 2006

Honda’s programme covered tyre evaluations for forthcoming races, aero and set-up work. Rubens Barrichello is scheduled to join the team for their final day in Italy on Thursday, taking over from Davidson.

At Williams, Alexander Wurz was joined by Mark Webber, the Australian replacing Narain Karthikeyan, who will be back on track on Thursday in place of Wurz. The pair completed 209 laps of the shortened circuit, which was again set-up with an additional chicane to better simulate conditions at the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix.

“Alex completed some tyre warm up tests and set-up changes this morning, while Mark concentrated on set-up work,” explained Williams’ test team manager Mike Condliffe. “The rest of the day was spent working through a tyre test to select the compounds for the Monaco race. Conditions today were ideal, dry with very little wind.”

Unofficial Wednesday times from Vallelunga:
1. Jenson Button, Honda (Michelin), 1:02.051
2. Anthony Davidson, Honda (Michelin), 1:02.515
3. Mark Webber, Williams (Bridgestone), 1:02.613
4. Alexander Wurz, Williams (Bridgestone), 1:02.733

Elsewhere in Italy, Ferrari were again testing at their Fiorano facility, with Michael Schumacher at the wheel of the 248 F1. Schumacher carried out set-up and new component work, completing 113 laps with a best time of 57.367s.
