Vallelunga day one - Davidson on top
Anthony Davidson (GBR) Honda F1 Racing Test Driver.
Formula One World Championship, Rd 6, Spanish Grand Prix, Practice Day, Barcelona, Spain, 12 May 2006

Davidson was charged with aero work in the morning and then a Monaco tyre programme in the afternoon. Fellow Honda tester James Rossiter followed a similar programme on his way to third in the times, though minor mechanical issues disrupted his afternoon running slightly.

Williams had test drivers Alexander Wurz and Narain Karthikeyan on duty, both men responsible for testing Monaco-specific aero and mechanical modifications on the Cosworth-powered FW28.

“This morning, we worked on set-up changes and evaluated some revised suspension components on Alex’s car before moving onto tyre compound tests in the afternoon,” explained Mike Condliffe, Williams’ test team manager. “Narain completed some engine mapping work with some new exhaust parts, he then carried out start comparisons work before covering off traction control work.”

Testing continues at Paul Ricard on Wednesday.

Unofficial Tuesday times from Vallelunga:
1. Anthony Davidson, Honda (Michelin), 1:01.847
2. Alexander Wurz, Williams (Bridgestone), 1:02.927
3. James Rossiter, Honda (Michelin), 1:03.780
4. Narain Karthikeyan, Williams (Bridgestone), 1:03.843

Elsewhere in Italy, Ferrari’s Luca Badoer was in action at Fiorano, working on set-up and testing new components. The Italian completed 88 laps (including 12 on the short version of the track), setting a best time of 58.538s. Badoer hands over to Michael Schumacher on Wednesday.
