CNN just ran a short piece where Kennedy and a couple other Democratic Senators got to read their canned speeches. As of 0950 Pacific, CNN has run no Q&A; with liberals/progressives like they did with the conservatives.
Hmmmm...
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
Get ready for ANOTHER liberal defeat! Oh, I'm sure they'll whine and fillibuster, but in the end, they'll lose again.
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
Let them gloat and beat thier chests. Be patient liberals. Progress comes slowly. Keep your eyes on the prize!

"Get ready for ANOTHER liberal defeat!"
Like the Schiavo case? Hmmm.

re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
I am receiving email from "Progress for America", the pro-Bush group. They have been claiming that Democrats would immediately attack any Bush nominee as soon as he is announced. While their pre-emptive attack on Democrat's attack supposedly pre-emptive attack has been corrected by factcheck.org, they will probably suceed with it. Eventually we are going to have to at least question the nominee's credentials. It's not like Bush is going to pick another Souter. But, what really irks me about the email is that PFA is either spamming people or buying email lists from the RNC, where I am registered. Can someone look into whether or not PFA's actions are responsible/legal?

What is more interesting besides the obvious rightwing slant of these so called "journalists"(and I am sure the truly great journalists are turning over in their graves that these hacks exist) is that the rightwingers are making no secret of their desire to make sure a judge gets the nod who will do the first thing they can rule on is overturning ROE v WADE.
This should be interesting to see how fast democrats cave. One day? Less? Maybe put up a token fight for the democrat voters back home and then cave?
Who knows. They are all so spineless Shrub would be able to get Terry whatisname from the Right To Life anti abortion extreme group who believes in the murder of abortion doctors, nominated.
BUT David Sirota over at www.davidsirota.com has a rather unsual viewpoint.
He thinks it is going really be about getting a judge who will allow more corporate crime and less workers rights.

Another step towards a facist government? Scary.

missy a................
You mentioned something earlier about "Bush not getting anything done" in his second term. Buckle your seatbelt toots, Bush is about to reshape the SCOTUS and change the direction of the country for DECADES to come. It's gonna be absolutely beautiful!! I personally have been waiting for this day for over 20 years! I am so very HAPPY!! I nominate Janice Rogers Brown!! Any seconds??
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
Everyone who loves fascism should be "all-atingle" like you are.
The battle for the soul of America has begun.
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
Unfortunately, the battle has been lost. The Dems. will cave because they will be triangulating for the coming elections. Nothing specific on the Dems, that is politics. The SCOTUS really doesn't change though. O'Connor did state that she wouldn't retire under a Democratic President in order to prevent a shift in the SCOTUS. Luckily, the pendulum does swing back.
As for the coverage, what a shock! Now that journalists are going to jail, at least the "liberal" ones, which reporter would put there head on the chopping block?
re: Don't Get Derailed
Another day, another go 'round for ‘LO and his hijacking routine. But what’s this I see? ‘LO missing from the discussion? Must be another commitment. Not to worry. Tomorrow is Saturday. No doubt that’s when he’ll reappear.
So it’s a good time to appeal to fellow libs: don’t reinforce him. Remember: he’s here neither to convince nor to be convinced. He’s here to rabble rouse. Repeat like a mantra, if you must, to control your natural inclinations, but don’t take at face value the incendiary rhetoric, and don’t respond in kind. Part of him doesn’t believe his own hype, remember that also. If he were so sure of his self-image and his philosophy, he wouldn’t become so outraged. In fact, his outrage indicates how easily threatened he is. How insecure and uncomfortable in his own skin.
That’s why he keeps coming back. He’s playing a game with himself, a variation of “if only.” If only he could convince himself he’s the man he wants to be – tough, successful, powerful, and all that other neocon good stuff – he wouldn’t have to obsessively post here, over and over, convincing no one, especially himself. It’s not about the administration. It’s not about politics. It’s about him and his fragile ego. It’s about psychology. It almost always is.
Please. For all our sakes. Who wants to retire on Friday, return on Saturday, and be confronted by a couple hundred posts on the week wrapup thread, because an imposter like ‘LO has once again managed to take otherwise intelligent individuals way off the main road into Tangentville? I certainly don’t.
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
Please amplify the waiting "20 years" statement. Bork was September 1987, so that can't be it....
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
"He thinks it is going really be about getting a judge who will allow more corporate crime and less workers rights."
That would be my guess too. The pro-life sheeple don't have as much clout as the Corporationss. The Republicans' corporate masters paid good money for a Supreme Court judge, and they'll be pissed if they don't get one.
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
Roe v. Wade will not be turned over. If it did, then the states would probably leave it legal in the first tri-mester. Women that want an abortion will find a way. The recent decision on emminent domain proves the point about a SCOTUS that favours corporations over citizens. Its the Guilded Age all over again. Corporations are people. One nation under Coca Cola, divisible, with profit and justice for elites.
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
Oh yes, we don't even have a name and already the Left is in attack mode. It doesn't matter who Bush names, the Left will denounce her personally, saying she is a bad person (because every Conservative is a bad person) who is an extremist and outside the mainstream (because all Conservative judges are outside the mainstream). Of course, it's even questionable, due to the Dem's obstructionism, that a new judge can be seated by the time the court convenes October 3rd.
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
Jose -
How is it that the "Left is in attack mode" when whatever discussion (television media-wise)on the subject has been presented with right-wing/bush supporters running off at the mouth...
please..
re: Initial coverage of O'Connor retirement on CNN & Fox News offered no commentary from Democrats
The Right has already aired commercials that predict that Democrats will smear Bush's nominee. They did that before any of the judges announced their retirement.
The Bushites must have a real doosie on deck.
Goodbye minimum wage. It was nice while it lasted.

Is there any doubt? It has started here even without a nominee.
