A shipwreck off the North Carolina coast believed to be that of notorious pirate Blackbeard could be fully excavated in three years.

Read about it here.

Now that’s a Pastafarian project if I ever heard one! Anyone know who’s in charge? Are they a disciple of the FSM? Could we get involved in any way (or at least the Pastafarians who live on the east coast)?

  2. 2 capekicks Mar 3rd, 2007 at 10:10 pm

Blackbeard settled in Bath and received a governor’s pardon. Some experts believe he grew bored with land life and returned to piracy.

He was killed by volunteers from the Royal Navy in November 1718 - five months after the ship thought to be Queen Anne’s Revenge sank.
This was followed by a unusual rise in seasonal tempatures and increased hurricane activity on the Carolina coast

  3. 3 Bosun (Boatswain) BuRn Mar 3rd, 2007 at 10:48 pm

cape - could that be still more evidence that decrease in pirates is an increase in global temps?

  4. 4 Max Globs Mar 3rd, 2007 at 11:32 pm

The Queen Anne’s Revenge shall rise again!

  5. 5 Wench Chika Mar 4th, 2007 at 12:46 am

I think that the site should be excivated and the nearest beach declared a pastafarian holly place, where beer and pirateness run free.

Wow - so cool! Keep us informed Bobby!

  7. 7 vplgringo Mar 4th, 2007 at 6:21 am

Maybe this event will enspire more people to become pirates and stave off our impending doom.

  8. 8 DutchPastaGuy Mar 4th, 2007 at 7:29 am

Welcome Bosun, may the the increase in the number of Pastafarians like yourself solve the great heat and drought in much of Africa.

This is just at the same time as the discovery of the bones of Jesus family. Coincidence, I think NOT !!!

  10. 10 Tina Mar 4th, 2007 at 10:24 am

Oh my FSM! I do sooo agree with jjk!! I was going to post that story but someone beat me to it.

  11. 11 Eggy Mar 4th, 2007 at 12:59 pm

maybe there will be proof that blackbeard was not an “evil villain” but a real pirate, a pastafarian, who gave sweets to children. isnt it horrible when your memory is tarnished.

@jjk EXACTLY!!!! it is the time of rekoning! God vs FSM. any bets? our god has PIRATES :D:D:D

And theirs has loonies! Unfortunately it would not be a fair bet. Whereas FSM exists, their god doesn’t. So it wouldn’t be much of a fight, now would it?

Yes! Just another sign that the FSM is true.

All Bobby has to do now is to claim the ship for the FSM Disciples. Part of the crew has already been suggested, but that’s still too confidential for the main page. OK, a hint: Wench Beth will be asked for the position of cook (her reputation in the chocolate cupcakes did that), and DPG for that in the crow’s nest. It’s a shame it’s not a galley: some people deserve a rowing position due to they pursuit of a being called god. And there was already a Pirate ready to beat the drums to keep them in tempo!

Ha Ha Ha! ECU represents on venganza once again! My university (ironically we are pirates as well) must have been truly blessed by his appendages! When I was an undergrad my archaeology field school got to check out many of the artifacts pulled from the Queen Annes Revenge site. Pretty cool stuff! Some of the artifacts are housed just a couple of miles from where I sit now. I almost went into the program that is conducting the dig, until I realized that underwater archaeology is a real bitch.

In case you missed the earlier mention, this is the school that Nick the Missionary and I go to; I brought up this topic at dinner with the family tonight before I’d read the whole article (saw it as I was leaving), and Momma recognized it as something ECU was looking into.
    .
Now I wanna see if I can go look at the stuff they have; at the very least I might can find someone to talk to and learn more about the situation.

  19. 19 Nick the Missionary Mar 4th, 2007 at 9:53 pm

Hey Arthur. If you go talk to someone from maritime studies in the history dept., I’m sure they might let you check out some of the artifacts. I think there are some in brewster. I know they do some of the restoration out at one of the voice of America sites (site B I think). The rest of the artifacts are kept in Morehead City. If you act like you are thinking about switching majors to maritime studies, they’ll be more likely to let you have a look.

Since I AM in the process of changing majors and will already be wandering around the various science buildings to talk to folks about that, I can always use the loose moral system we have to smudge the truth a hair in an effort to get closer to the FSM.

I don’t think the answer to that is overly important, since we already know that if we’re about to dig up something He doesn’t want us to know, he’ll change the results of what happens. The Noodly One works in mysterious ways.

Yeah arthur, there are at least two other people at ECU with my first and last name. One even has the same middle initial as me. Good thing I’ve got that SS# to identify myself. Whenever I deal with any university office, I just walk in and say “Hey my name is 243 21 ….”.

  26. 26 Arthur Mar 4th, 2007 at 10:59 pm

Ah, one of the advantages of having a fairly rare name. On the downside, I now think just about every reference to “Arthur” is one about me unless I KNOW they’re talking about the King of Camelot of DW’s big brother. The downside is everyone thinks it’s pronounced “author”.

We need to get serious about this ship of ours. We need to contact Discovery or Fox or somewhere about a show where people build reallly cool things from legendary myths or futuristic stories. We pitch the idea, then suggest the first thing the team builds is a pirate ship. It should be huge and capable of amazing speeds for sailing. It will need cannons, a poop deck, classic rigging set up, and all of that jazz. We suggest a bottom deck next to the cabins that has barrels full of grog. We come up with the idea, and get copyright over it. We sell the rights to the producers on one condition. We keep the ship once it is done. After they make a badass ship, they will build all sorts of other stuff. Imagine Mythbusters with bigger budget and no limits. Once they are done making the stuff, they give it away to people who can legally use it. This is my idea, and through it we get a ship and a cool TV show to watch.
    .
    PS
Mr. Henderson, if you read this, i hope you contact my email. I would gladly write up a proposal for the networks if I can man one of the cannons.

Today’s lesson: You are what you worship.

    Jesus was a dim-witted, speech-slurring, delusional psychopath.

But it was not without reason, for his grandfather and father raped and knocked up his 12-year old mother Mary. And Mary’s mother Mary was dumb enough to believe Mary was a virgin because she was her husband’s daughter from a previous child rape, as was Mary’s mother Mary’s mother Mary before her.

And so yes, children, those inbred genes, the string of three consecutive mothers from one father, that famous holy trinity, yes, all that incest and child rape evolved into….

….why, Kansas, of course, as well as GWB, and many of the posters you can read here.

So now you see why it is so important to think, think as hard as you can possibly think, to try to understand evolution. It is a vital part of your family values!

And remember, My children and concubines,
    Jesus taves!

    Today’s Lighter Side Of god:

George Bush is the penultimate religious mind alive today.

    (drum roll)

Next to Ariel Sharon, of course!

    RE: Newspaper coverage
Do we really need one giant, nationally acclaimed paper to write to about getting the FSM some larger coverage? I think it’d be more in sticking to the grassroots basis of the Church of the FSM to just have lots of Pastafarians write their local papers in whatever section is applicable, or at least sneak a mention of noodly appendages in there somewhere. WAY less work, and it gives us almost the same coverage (unless there’s a television news story on the new cult that popped up in USA Today…).
