Over 19,000 children get access to education in North Western Tigray
Axum, November 18,2005 (WIC) - Primary schools and additional classrooms constructed with over four million birr in three woredas of North Western Tigray zone have reportedly been providing services this academic year.
Education Office Heads of Medebay Zana, Atsgede Tsembila and Tselemti woredas told WIC that the construction of 90 additional classrooms and 14 primary schools in 54 rural kebeles of the woredas have given access to education to over 19,000 children of farmers. Out of those more than 10,000 are female, it was noted.
Inhabitants of the area contributed in labor and construction materials valued at 1.6 million birr.
The woredas have also begun activities to construct 14 primary schools and 102 additional classrooms that could enroll more than 10,000 students, the Heads stated.(END)
