So here we are. It's the end of the year and time to decide what, precisely, is worth getting for Christmas. There's a whole lot out there, to be sure. Between socks and portable butane ovens, there's no telling what kind of Christmas gift is destined to land under the tree. There are, however, several types of gifts everyone in their right mind prefers. And these are games. Not just any games, either, but the kind people can play on their brand spankin' new Playstation Portables. Sure, it's not exactly the PSP's birthday, but it's the perfect time to look back and see how Sony's little system did its first year in North America.

One thing's for sure, no one needing to lengthen their Christmas list needs worry; there are plenty of great games to choose. Sure, the PSP's first year may have disappointed some, but the system certainly proved that's it capable of delivering great games. At the very least, this first batch of games promises an even cooler 2006 for the fledgling handheld. For example, those looking for deep, rewarding sports title need only look to Virtua Tennis, where those looking for blistering speed can tune into Ridge Racer or WipEout Pure.
