Brown girls and the ring!

What an amazing sight...532 Brownies holding hands in one gigantic circle at Bradley Wood Huddersfield. The biggest ever event of this kind happened on Saturday 17th June. Brownies came from all over our County to break the record!

The day began with masses of Brownies descending on Huddersfield. From this began the formation of the enormous circle - the field was almost too small to fit everyone in! Maureen and Paul Smelt led the official count ensuring markers at every 50 Brownies were made, when they reached the 500 mark a huge cheer rung out. It was so great for the Brownies to see how many of them there are in West Yorkshire. The final count stood at 532 which is sure to be a record.

So from all the Brownies in West Yorkshire South - this is a challenge to you all! We had an amazing day celebrating Girlguiding in West Yorkshire - there was so much to do but in summing up, we just had lots of fun...which is what Girlguiding is all about! What a success. Cathy Burton, PRA WYS
