The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, published daily by Morris Communication Service, covers the South Plains region as well as national and state s. Four additional spapers target specific communities, including The Southwest Digest, serving the African-American community, and El Editor, West Texas Hispanic s and The Hispano, all serving the Hispanic community.
SuddenLink, formerly Cox Communications, is the cable television provider. The City of Lubbock has a governmental affairs station and LISD operates LISD TV. Lubbock also supports PBS, KTXT-TV Channel 5, which operates from the Texas Tech University campus.
In addition, radio offers a variety of programming including classical, contemporary, Christian, country and rock as well as a variety of talk programs.
