There are a number of Charities that can help ex-service and ex-Royal Naval Personnel. Some of the main ones are listed on our Charities page. Click here to read more on Charities

The Veterans Agency

On 5 October 1998, the MOD launched a new telephone advice service for ex-servicemen and women offering practical advice on a variety of subjects. The Veterans Agency is manned by fully trained, friendly Warrant Officers aware of the needs of Veterans.

The service is open between 9am and 5am Monday to Friday, and an answering machine service is available at all other times. These are just some of the ways the agency can assist:

Disability claims
Claiming War Pensions
Combat stress
Ex-serviceman's Associations
Replacing lost medals

The primary role of the Veterans' Agency (VA) is one of partnership and co-ordination. The Agency should not be expected to resolve all problems of all veterans; rather that it should be seen as being the advice point and sign-posting organisation to a range of government services. To that end, the VA offers an integrated website which provides information about current services offered by the Agency and leading veterans' groups, and will provide links to other relevant organisations. Work is continuing to extend the remit of the site and it is anticipated that in due course it will provide access to a wider range of government services.

The telephone number for the VA is shown below, and all calls are charged at local rates, no matter where in the UK you are calling from.
