What is podcasting?

Podcasting enables you to listen to audio files at the time and place of your choosing. To begin, you must have podcasting software installed on your computer (such as iTunes or Juice). Follow your program's instructions for subscribing to podcasts. You can listen directly from your computer through the software, or on-the-go by synching up a portable MP3 player, such as an iPod.

What is AudioNews?

AudioNews is a personalized service provided to IHT.com readers by ReadSpeaker, the leader in Web speech-enabling services. Articles are converted into audio so you can listen to them on your computer, your mp3 player or your mp3 phone.

Are the articles read by a robot?

Not exactly. Articles are read by the latest text-to-speech technologies using professional readers whose recordings are converted into language dictionaries. Some lesser-known words and names may be mispronounced. This service is in beta, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to make improvements to the voice quality.

Which podcasting software should I use?

Apple's iTunes and Juice (formerly known as iPodder). Are widely available and free.

Reading your AudioNews with iTunes

- Click the iTunes button for each feed to launch iTunes and automatically subscribe
- You will find your Podcast on the left side of the screen under "Podcasts"

Audionews with Juice

- Copy the podcast link into the clipboard
- Open Juice
- Click on "+" and then "Add Feed"
- Paste your podcast link.
