Black Workers

The TUC campaigns for race equality in the workplace and in the wider community. Here you can find recent TUC information and materials material on the work of the TUC in the following areas

- Black Workers and the Labour Market
- Campaigns
- Organising Black Workers
- Black Workers Conference

The TUC has published a free booklet explaining your rights at work and dealing with common workplace problems. Racism at work

The campaign against the electoral progress of the far right faces a major challenge in this years local Council elections with parties like the BNP fielding an extensive list of candidates in council constituencies up and down the country.

This colour leaflet and poster called ' Unions unite - the far right divide', has been produced by the TUC for use by trade unions in the workplace. The leaflet explains why the politics of parties like the British National Party are incompatible with the values that we hold as trade unionists, the continuing danger of the far-right and the need to actively campaign against them.

Northern TUC holds Equalites Seminar
On Thursday 6th July, the Northern TUC will be holding a regional Equalities Seminar at St James' Park, Newcastle. The theme of equalities is extremely important in the North East as the region faces the difficult challenge of tackling many acute forms of disadvantage and discrimination. We fare poorly in almost every aspect of equality and diversity, with an ageing population, a lower skilled/less qualified workforce, shorter life expectancy, lower economic activity rates, higher pensioner poverty and a higher proportion of disabled people.
