OFFICIAL LIVE TNA “SLAMMIVERSARY" RESULTS ON THE FLYSunday, June 18, 2006 – Orlando, FL

The 30-minute free preshow opened with Jeremy Borash and TNA’s newest Knockout, Christy Hemme running down tonight’s lineup for Slammiversary, the fourth anniversary of TNA!
About 6-minutes into the preshow, “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown appeared to not only welcome us to Slammiversary, but also the Serengeti. The Alpha Male told the fans straight up that he’s sick of being held back with the King of the Mountain match being a prime example because he’s not in it. Monty Brown went on to also attack Samoa Joe by calling him “Fat Joe” – obviously being jealous to see him in a high profile match against Steiner while he’s been left off the card. In conclusion, Monty let the fans know that a new Alpha Male is dawning upon TNA; he’s going to soon be the new dominant force in TNA like he should have been right at TNA’s inception.
Our opening contest saw The Naturals lose yet another match this time against Team Canada’s Eric Young and A1 after dominating the majority of the match. Shane Douglas their new manger furiously marched to the ring. He was asking them if “The Franchise” even meant anything to them, and the fans began chanting his name. He told The Naturals that that wasn’t fanfare – it was respect, something he has earned over the years by winning championships and high profile matches. If The Naturals don’t start getting serious about their careers, then Shane Douglas will personally “Franchise” them. The hard work is about to begin for The Naturals under Shane Douglas’ wing.
Team 3D came down prematurely in the night and demanded a referee and out came Mark “Slick” Johnson. They wanted The James Gang to come down and begin their Bingo Hall Brawl right away. As expected, neither Kip nor BG James showed up, the challenge was disregarded but the fight will still come later in the night. Before they left though, Brother Ray added in that other promotions can choose what they may possess but at least TNA doesn’t have any zombies!
The 30-minute free preshow had come to pass and suddenly we kicked off the “Slammiversary” Pay-Per-View!
Immediately when the broadcast started, Team 3D were seen dragging The James Gang down to the ring with referee Mark Johnson as the match officially began in an impromptu manner. Brother Ray tossed in numerous chairs into ring – reminding us of Philadelphia on June 9th when fans threw in hundreds of chairs. This Bingo Hall Brawl was even pushed across borders to the LAX Spanish announce table and the leader of that court Konnan was not pleased to say the least – he had his thugs beat and send 3D back across the border. The entire match was hard-hitting, smash mouth and in your face. Suddenly fans were getting involved when they started holding up chairs for Brother Ray and Devon to smash The James Gang’s heads thru.
Brother Ray continued the violence by bring a garbage can full of weapons into the ring during this most interactive match the iMPACT Zone has ever seen! Ray’s favourite kitchen item the cheese grater was also used when he grated Kip’s forehead. Shortly later we saw Team 3D redeeming themselves after their loss to The James Gang last month at Sacrifice. Being that this was an interactive match, the fans ordered Team 3D to “Get The Table” and that they did! Kip James was sent thru the table via the 3D finisher and your winners were Brother Ray and Brother Devon of Team 3D – the fans were chanting, “That was Awesome” by the time this was over!
Backstage, Jeff Jarrett told us that when it comes down to clutch time he always comes through. Tonight in the match he made famous, the King of the Mountain match will be his time to rise atop of TNA once more as the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion. “Christian Cage and Sting’s egos will cancel each other out”, proclaimed Jarrett, while Ron Killings and Abyss will massacre each other and that’ll leave the opportunity open for Jarrett to hang the title.
Our next bout was the handicap match between Rhino and Team Canada’s Bobby Roode & Scott D’Amore. After much bold talk coming out of D’Amore’s mouth he immediately went for retreat once Rhino made his presence felt against Roode in the ring. D’Amore was very cautious about getting in the ring against Rhino but once he did it was only after Roode had incapacitated him for a short while. Nonetheless, Scott D’Amore became the recipient of The Gore that allocated “The War Machine” Rhino the victory!
Jeremy Borash told Samoa Joe backstage that he’s never faced anyone like Scott Steiner before, but Joe immediately turned that around and stated that Scott Steiner has never faced anyone like Samoa Joe before. Tonight we will see who truly is unstoppable but first we have our X-Division Ranking match between Senshi, Petey Williams, Jay Lethal, Alex Shelley, Sonjay Dutt, and Shark Boy!
Elimination rules were applied for this match, but before anyone was eliminated we all had the treat of witnessing a 6-pack vertical suplex occur in the middle of the six-sided ring! Shark Boy was the first wrestler eliminated when the hesitated elbow from the top rope was missed and Sonjay Dutt capitalized with a running back flip drop for the pin. Alex Shelley was in the spotlight next with his unique offensive style. For a man who has been hanging out with Kevin Nash in recent weeks, we definitely saw a bit of Nash’s personality rub off on Shelley and that cockiness in him is what prompted him to be eliminated by Jay Lethal. The eliminator of Shelley soon became the eliminated as Petey Williams caught him with the Canadian Destroyer. Continuing the trend saw Petey Williams eliminated next when he suffered the double-foot stomp by Senshi, or the “Warrior’s Way” as Senshi would call it, to eliminate Petey Williams.
The final two competitors in the X-Division Rankings match featured former X-Division Champion, Senshi and the “Original Playa from the Himalaya” Sonjay Dutt. Senshi ultimately got the win when he locked Sonjay’s legs in the corner upside down. Senshi then went forth by stepping on Sonjay’s knees to where Dutt elevated himself in attempts to stumble Senshi off balance but that in fact lead to his destruction as Senshi leaped off and went with the double-foot stomp on Sonjay’s face for the win!
Kevin Nash vs. Chris Sabin was next but first Kevin told Chris Sabin’s son Walt that he wasn’t going to pay for any of Sabin’s medical bills after tonight despite it being Father’s Day. This was of course fully supported by Nash’s partner in crime, Alex Shelley.
Kevin Nash went for the high power moves while Chris Sabin went for the highflying moves. Early on however size was apparently looking to be a key ingredient for Nash because he had all the offense in his corner. However, that claim began to die off as the seven-foot giant became fatigued and was kicked out of the ring by Sabin. Nash couldn’t take it anymore so he called down his pal Alex Shelley and out he came on queue. With the distraction of Shelley, Kevin Nash was able to deliver a flying clothesline – something not normally seen from Kevin Nash. However, every time Chris Sabin had any apparent offense Alex Shelley seemed to be at the forefront with a cheap shot to get Nash back on top – talk about a real take over of the X-Division by Kevin Nash. Chris Sabin was amazingly able to put Nash in the Cradle Shock position but of course Alex Shelley caught Nash’s leg and pulled him off of Sabin’s shoulders. That’s when Sabin took Nash down with a drop kick to the knees followed with a dive on the outside to take Alex Shelley out momentarily – it was looking like this was the second handicap match of the night.
Chris Sabin never got a fair chance in this match from the time Alex Shelley was called down by Nash and that’s what ultimately lead to Chris Sabin’s tormenting loss in honour of the X-Division. Kevin Nash picked up the win with the Jackknife Powerbomb.
The NWA World Tag Team Championship match was next as America’s Most Wanted were defending the titles against AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels – a rematch from last month’s Sacrifice when Styles and Daniels were screwed out of a win by Gail Kim introducing a nightstick to the match. Early on in this bout, AJ Styles connected James Storm with a phenomenal drop kick flip – no pun intended. Daniels later put forth a perfectly placed drop toehold that had AMW in a position where… well the fans were chanting, “Brokeback Mountain”.
The match remained in AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels’ favour for a long period of time but once the match deviated out of the ring, it was now in AMW’s court of cheap shots left and right. Gail Kim was ringside to distract the referee and now AMW were meeting odds of winning this match for the second month in a row. However, with great desperation comes phenomenal counters to what seemingly looks impossible but not for AJ, he hit the Pelé on James Storm and immediately tagged in Daniels as they were back in control. Gail Kim tried to continue the cheating tactics but an unidentified woman came in and took out the trash so to speak. She remained unidentified but her physic was nothing short of built.
From there it was desperation time for both teams with both knowing the importance of this match. AMW tried to retain their titles with cheap knockout blows but AJ and Daniels made sure to have each others backs at all times. Things weren’t going well for AMW so Chris Harris purposely knocked out the referee but that didn’t do any wonders for America’s Most Wanted because James Storm inadvertently hit his own partner behind the head with a beer bottle and that was the calling for AJ and Daniels. AJ went for the frogsplash followed with The Fallen Angel’s Best Moonsault Ever and we now had our new NWA World Tag Team Champions with AJ Styles becoming a 3-time Triple Crown Winner along with this monumental win at Slammiversary! Former bitter rivals were now best friends holding up the prestigious NWA Tag Team Titles of the world in celebration with the fans inside the iMPACT Zone!
Up next Mike Tenay revealed the new face of TNA management to be Jim Cornette! Cornette immediately made mention of the previous match in praising it for being what tag team wrestling is supposed to be. He said that he may not always be politically correct but he gets results and that’s what counts. TNA is the future and Cornette is more than happy to push TNA further into fields currently unapproachable without the help of Jim Cornette. In the end Cornette wants people who can wrestle great matches, draw for Pay-Per-Views, and get great ratings and if no one can do that then he’ll show you the door. It’s a new day in TNA and he’s happy to be here in making TNA the number one promotion in the world today!
Finally at last it was the one on one contest between Scott Steiner and Samoa Joe occurring for the very first time in history. This match wasn’t about championships seeing as Samoa Joe is the X-Division Champion, but rather about seeing just who truly is unstoppable as we keep in mind that Samoa Joe has never pinned or submitted but he has never been tested by someone to the likes of Steiner’s size or strength. Early on in the contest both contestants were testing each other’s strengths but Joe was quick to get into the swing of things with his combinations of back kick to running knee drop. Scott Steiner later answered back with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Steiner began taunting Samoa Joe by breaking his own pins and going for multiple push-ups. Later Joe suffered a powerbomb from Steiner – something he’s never felt before in TNA. The match then went to the outside as an all out brawl was taking place with Steiner getting the better of it. The referee gave them a 10-count to get back in the ring and Joe showed sheer will power in getting back into the ring after suffering multiple stiff chair shots.
Steiner now had an expression of disbelief on his face as Samoa Joe was now taking control after the harsh punishment he was put thru. The disbelief by Scott Steiner seemed to be his own distraction because Samoa Joe would then hook in the Rear Naked Choke but Steiner countered by sending Joe back straight on his head and immediately locked in the Steiner Recliner. Much to Steiner’s surprise though, he was quickly snapped in a scoop-running slam as the X-Division Champion, Samoa Joe picked up the win via pinfall. Samoa Joe is UNSTOPPABLE!
The main event was now ready and it was the third ever King of the Mountain match featuring NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Christian Cage defending the gold against Sting, Ron Killings, Jeff Jarrett, and Abyss – and keep in mind that no champion has been able to retain their title in this match!
The match began with all competitors brawling in and out of the ring. Christian Cage and Ron Killings began teaming on Jarrett. Christian thought he had a key partner in the match so he tried dancing with him but he was wrong, Killings quickly turned and clotheslined him down. Sting and Abyss were brawling right from the start of this match and it saw The Truth join in as Christian dove outside on Jarrett. As you’ve probably guessed, this match was full with chaos everywhere! Sting even leapfrogged off the top of the penalty cage to the outside taking everyone down like bowling pins. Sting’s main focus however was Jeff Jarrett – the cancer in TNA as he puts it and keeping to his word that the NWA World Title is not a factor for him, he let Ron Killings take the pin to be eligible at hanging the title to win it while Jarrett was now in the penalty cage for 2-minutes. Truth went for the ladder but Christian catapulted it up in Killings’ face as a reminder that Christian is willing to do anything to retain his title in King of the Mountain, and that later transpired in Abyss being rolled up for a pin by Christian.
Sting, perhaps in a change of heart, was now working intensely on Ron Killings in the ring while Jarrett had Christian wedged inside a ladder and applied the pressure to his neck in choking fashion. Jarrett and Abyss would form a bond with James Mitchell’s consent. They setup two pairs of tables stacked up against each other on the outside perhaps for a planned use later in the match. Jarrett then became eligible when he hit The Stroke on Killings onto the guardrail. From there, Sting began showing a side of himself that we have not yet seen in TNA has he gave repeated shots to Abyss’ head with a steel chair while Christian and Jarrett were brawling at the top of the bleachers in the iMPACT Zone. Fans were running for safety during this bout, as the competitors were relentless in knowing that this is for the prestigious NWA World Heavyweight Championship!
Midway through the match, Abyss quickly turned on Jeff Jarrett with a Black Hole Slam and pin once there became a difference of opinion regarding who should hoist the title up top. As Abyss then went to hang the title up, his four tables stacked outside backfired on him because Sting was there to push the ladder down that saw him plummet down thru the tables.
Sting and Christian Cage then came face to face. Christian made the first two blows as Sting seemed hesitant in fighting back against who he thought was a friend; nonetheless, he fought back without any choice and hit a Stinger Splash before locking in the Scorpion Death Lock but he had to break himself and stop Jarrett hanging the title. Sting now gave Christian the title to hang it up further showing Christian that it’s not really about the championship, but Zbyszko surprisingly came in and low blowed Christian sending him to the outside.
Later it came down to Sting with the title so he slowly climbed the ladder in an attempt to hang it up but Christian caught eye of this fast and tried to stop Sting who he wasn’t letting up, he truly wanted to win now. Jeff Jarrett and surprisingly referee Earl Hebner then pushed the ladder down that was holding Christian and Sting as they fell to the outside. Jarrett seized the moment and hung the title up top upon becoming a 6-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion as fans began throwing debris left and right straight at “The King of the Mountain” Jeff Jarrett! But why did Earl Hebner and Larry Zbyszko do this? It was yet another screwjob in professional wrestling – it's conspiracy!
Earl Hebner was quickly escorted out to the back, as the ring became a very dangerous scene as fans were left mad with the results. With no other choice, new head of management Jim Cornette came and grabbed the NWA World Heavyweight Title from Jeff Jarrett as he then went down on his knees pleading to keep the title and from that moment we went off the air. Will Jeff Jarrett be declared the official new NWA World Heavyweight Champion? Find out this Thursday at TNA’s “iMPACT!” on Spike TV!
