Portfolio
Our continuously evolving portfolio comprises three core strategic management methodologies (Networks, Navigation and Narratives), a suite of five enabling literacies and content in the form of strategic intelligence products. All our methodologies and practices are based upon principles drawn from complex living systems, preferential social networks and an intelligence-driven, cybernetic approach to governance. These all-embracing knowledge systems have been purposefully designed to replace the more conventional, bureaucratic approaches to strategic management, which are increasingly obsolete in today’s global business environment.
THE THREE METHODOLOGIES:
1. NAVIGATION - Our core practice is Navigation - the ability of an individual, enterprise or community to speed up its learning metabolism, or the time it takes to identify, process and respond to rapid and unforseen events in today's globalized world. Increasingly, managing fluidly in this uncertain environment, which we call zero geography, will be the difference between flourishing. Or not!
2. NETWORKS - The life blood of Navigation is the intelligence that emerges from, is synthesised, and flows to each part of the system in real-time. Preferential networks provide the vital connections through which content can be channelled to challenge the status quo, thereby changing the nature of conversations throughout the enterprise, enabling aspirations to be fulfilled and better futures to be created.
3. NARRATIVES - Narratives uses various forms of strategic conversation to explore the connections between worldviews, assumptions, relationships and informed action. Using deep inquiry and mapping techniques, Narratives guarantee healthy evolution of the system in alignment with all stakeholders' needs. Narratives allow corporations and governments to (re)connect with their stakeholders, and with society, in ways that are compelling and desirable.
THE FIVE LITERACIES:
Too often we imagine our organizations, and the markets in which they operate, to be vast mechanistic clockworks. Based on principles and structures of the past, the reductionist routines and protocols to which most corporations and government agencies still cling, serve merely to reinforce this outmoded paradigm. Orthodoxy is rewarded while creativity is stifled and choked. Banality and blandness are preferred to uniqueness. Ruthlessness rampages over joy while lacklustre performance prevails over passionate enterprise.
All of this need not be so. Our experience of the world is changing and with it the need to engage a different reality. The science of complex networks teaches us that what happens in organizational and community life also occurs in nature. Indeed, when conditions permit, organizations express almost every characteristic of viability in living systems - irrational and capricious yet dynamic, adaptive and astonishingly inventive. These qualities embody an approach to leading and learning within a connected society that is consciously ecological rather than mechanistic.
This ecological paradigm forms the wellspring of knowledge upon which The Five Literacies approach is based. In effect, The Five Literacies become the means for liberating the wisdom within your organisation and beyond – amplifying your brand resonance into the market while assuring long-term viability and success. The Five Literacies are the future of global business leadership and can best be expressed as follows:
1. NETWORKED INTELLIGENCE – Leveraging the emergent dynamics of change to the mutual advantage of all stakeholders
2. FUTURING – Compressing the past, present & possible to realise aspirations and create better futures
3. DEEP DESIGN – Using collaborative inquiry to shape the conditions of the global business ecosystem for speed and stress-free adaptiveness
4. STRATEGIC NAVIGATION - Adopting the principles of Navigation to ensure ongoing viability
5. BRAND RESONANCE – Harnessing a higher moral purpose & collaborative narratives to attract the right attention from the right people
