Parma announce Ranieri exit
Thursday 31 May, 2007

Claudio Ranieri has moved closer to the Manchester City job after Parma confirmed that he has left the club.

“Parma FC announce that Claudio Ranieri today informed the club of his intention to leave his role as Coach of the first team,” read an official statement.

“The club would like to thank Claudio Ranieri for the precious work carried out which resulted in keeping Parma in Serie A.

“We wish him success for the future.”

The Tardini outfit were hoping to keep Ranieri for next season given his massive impact with them since his arrival in February.

Having replaced Stefano Pioli, the former Chelsea tactician defied the critics by keeping his young side in the top flight.

Ranieri is now expected to return to England after admitting that he would be tempted to take charge of City if the club is taken over by Thaksin Shinawatra.

It’s unclear at this stage who will step in for the former Napoli and Cagliari boss at Parma.
