Within minutes of the title 'League Champions' moving north to Manchester, the man who lifted the Barclays Premiership trophy the two previous seasons was setting the agenda for the next campaign.

'We want to get it back as soon as possible, and that is our main target,' declared John Terry straight after Sunday's draw at Arsenal.

'The Champions League was again disappointing this year and we want to win that but we desperately want the title back and we will be fighting for it next year.

'I am sure Man United will sign players and they will strengthen again, as a lot of teams will, but we will certainly push them all the way.'

Despite coming second in this year's nine-month league marathon, the skipper insists it has been an achievement to stay on the shoulder of the eventual winners for so long.

'They didn't really manage to do that to us in the last couple of years, we won it with a few games to spare, and we can take pride in pushing them this far.

'You looked at their games, Everton away, Man City away, we half expected them to maybe slip up in one of those games. They didn't but did the one before, Middlesbrough at home, when we expected them to win. Same with us with Bolton at home when we were expected to win.

'The games we thought we'd win and the games we thought Man United would win, didn't seem to go that way and there was a little twist at the end.

'But unfortunately we are not there and we have to say congratulations to Man United. They have been very good this year and some of their players have been fantastic.

'It would have been nice to have pushed them right to the wire but we will take a lot of strength out of this game against Arsenal. I thought we played very well first-half and in the second-half, we totally dominated.'
