Console Error Messages with Xbox 360

Check the following list of error messages for information about probable causes of and/or solutions for each.

Xbox Live Problems

  • Several Xbox Live error messages are triggered by temporary service outages or potentially brief instances of home-network interference, any of which may hinder your access to Xbox Live. These messages consist of the following:
    • "Can't connect to Xbox Live. Please try again later."
    • "Can't retrieve information from Xbox Live. Please try again later."
    • "Can't retrieve your membership info from Xbox Live."
    • "Can't load your gamer profile. Please try again."
    • "This action cannot be performed at this time. Please try again later."
    • "Xbox Live Marketplace is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

If you receive one of these messages, check back later or restart your Xbox 360 console and then try again. If your problem persists, it may be evidence of a problem with your home network or your Internet connection.

To troubleshoot network issues, see Troubleshoot Your Xbox Live Connection.
  • "Recover your gamertag only if your profile is corrupt or missing. Recovery will delete all games saved for that profile on any console."

You'll receive this warning before completing the procedure Recover Your Gamertag from Xbox Live. If you simply want to access your gamer profile from an Xbox 360 console other than your own, see our article on Roaming.
  • "The Code of Conduct is not available at this time." To read the Code of Conduct, see the Xbox Code of Conduct.
